Minimal Holiday Makeup

This week’s ‘My Makeup’ post almost became a bit redundant. Most days here include some kind of pool or waterpark frolicking  activity so I haven’t been wearing much makeup at all! However for days when we’re just mooching around some of the theme parks or indulging in my favourite activity, shopping, I have been throwing on the minutest and minimal amount of makeup…

I bought the Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser ages ago, with the sole purpose of bringing it along for this trip and I have to say I am very chuffed I did. The shade I have, Glow, does exactly that – and adds a soft glow to my skin, a hint of colour and evens everything out with a nice skin-like finish. I apply it with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush if I fancy a little more coverage in the evenings or with my fingers for a lighter look. Most days I have just been applying a small amount of concealer on areas where I need it, and my weapon of choice is the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 3. Great coverage, easy to blend and bloomin’ cheap – I have about three of these knocking about in my makeup stocks now. That’s my face done – no bronzer or blush as the sun gives me a little flush in those departments anyway and no powder as I’ve been liking the dewy look.  For my brows I’ve been testing out my newest purchase, the Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil in Warm Brunette. I don’t think it’s ever been so easy to pick out a shade of makeup – I’ve got warm brunette hair so I picked up the corresponding brow shade and bob’s your uncle. It’s a great colour match and superly long-lasting, I’m still getting the hang of using a pencil as I usually use a powder and a thin brush but the effects last much longer and look so much more defined – I’ll keep you updated on this one. For eyes I’ve been going for lashings of the L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara over Shu Uemura curled lashes – standard! And for lips a quick slick of the Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Nude Peach and that’s all. Definitely a good move not to bring any lipsticks, I haven’t felt like wearing much on my lips at all!

I think over the next week I’ll give my American makeup purchases more of a test so expect to see a US of A ‘My Makeup’ post next Friday! I’ve only been to drugstores so far, but I think I’ll be visiting a Sephora sometimes next week – insert girly squeal! Very exciting times! Any recommendations for what to pick up from Sephora?
