Hold The Phone – Bourjois Have New Things

IMG_0342 IMG_0344

Bourjois hands down excite me the most drugstore-wise when I get a whiff of a new launch. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but their new releases are always something a little bit different, always wearable and rarely disappointing. I guess my giddyness comes from the fact that they are the makers of some of my favourite highstreet beauty buys like their Happy Light Foundation and the Rouge Edition Velvets. Speaking of the latter this season sees another two hit the line-up (spoiler: they’re both lovely) and a few other newbies are due to make an appearance, so today I thought I’d take you for a tour of my favourites…

There’s a tonne of new stuff from two lipsticks (they’re ok, but not matte enough for me), two nail polishes (not really my chosen shades), a new foundation formula (more on that at the weekend) and then eight new colours in the Little Round Pot Eyeshadows and two new shades of the Rouge Edition Velvets. The eyeshadows are what made me go all heart-eye emoji when I saw them, though the range can literally be split down the middle in terms of what I loved and what I didn’t.

There’s a few formulas: the shimmers, which felt way too sparkly for my tastes, the pearls, of which I’m fond of the colours Generose and Emauvante though the others felt again too glittery and some too sheer, then finally there are the two mattes which are my favourites, though I prefer Utaupique. The three I’ve cherry-picked here are all blendable, nice and creamy when you dip your finger into them and colour-wise are things I’m lacking in my current collection. Generose is a light, pearly cream with a pink iridescence to it, Emauvante is pretty sheer pale taupe, but will make a good all-over wash on lazy makeup days and Utaupique is a cool, matte, mauve brown (pictured above)). Together they’d make a pretty everyday, easy-to-whip-on smokey eye.

The two new colours in the Rouge Edition VelvetsPlum Plum Girl and Fu(n)chsia are everything you’ve come to except from this formula. Easy to paint on, tough to get off – lovely. Plum Plum Girl is quite obviously a plum, though it needs a bit of layering to get the pigment opaque – it seems Bourjois still haven’t got dark purples quite down – but it’s worth the effort and once it’s there it doesn’t budge. Fu(n)chsia is a bright ‘Hello I’m here!‘ pinky coral that will just look bloomin’ fabulous on everyone (pictured above). This and Ole Flamingo are my faves from the line-up incase you fancy a purchase.

The official launch date of everything mentioned here is tomorrow, but they’ve probably sneaked onto counters already so it’s worth popping to your local Boots on your lunchbreak. Grab us a Meal Deal while you’re at it…

P.S) Apologies for the lack of things I’m writing about actually being pictured. Some bits have appeared to have gone walkies, but when I find them I’ll update it with more pics!
