Getting Cosy: The Weekend Edition

IMG_9406

I’m such a homebody that the social acceptance of cosy nights in during the winter pleases me ridiculous amounts. Hot drinks, hot baths, multiple layers of loungewear – my list of why winter evenings inside rock is seriously endless. So today I thought I’d talk you through the steps I take to get snuggly. It’s not rocket science and I’m sure most are the same that you employ but I just wanted to write a post that would get you feeling all warm, fuzzy and festive inside. So rack up that heating, dust off that cocoa from the depths of your kitchen cupboard and pop on the hot water…

Get the gear. In order to get your snuggly on, you’ve got to have the right kit. For loungewear and PJ’s I end up wearing a lot of the basics range from H&M (best and thickest jogging bottoms ever) or GAP which do really comfortable yet chic looking stuff. Then there’s the bedding, blankets and all that jazz. Personally I love a bit of John Lewis for that, though H&M Home do have really nice cushion covers. Good ol’ J.L may be a little on the pricey side but there’s always gift vouchers and the quality of the stuff means it lasts.

Set the mood. Turn on those lamps, switch off the big lights and play some chill out tunes. Of course I’d recommend anything from my man of the moment – Ed Sheeran – will I ever get bored of X? I think not. But I do love a bit of any Radio 1 Live Lounge album or to get you in the Christmas mood, any of the festive compilations will do.

Feeling hot, hot, hot. A BATH. Seriously, what is a cosy night in without a bath? Those with just a shower – I feel your pain – I was in the same situation back at uni and I used to overcompensate by using bubble baths as shower gels and making things super suddy. But bath-wise I cannot recommend the Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts enough – a good nights sleep in a jar right there.

We be burning. Time to crack out a candle. I’ve got a few on rotation at the moment; different rooms, different vibes and all that. Space NK Shimmering Spice is in the living room because it’s now officially December and I’m allowing myself to burn scents which just scream ‘CHRISTMAS‘, Malin & Goetz Mojito is in the bathroom as it’s all fresh and spa-like and Jo Malone Lavender and Lovage is going in the bedroom as it makes me feel all sleepy.

P.S) +2 reader points for spotting the Sean Paul reference. I always used to get excited when he sung ‘Get Busy’ as one line sounded like he said ‘Yo Anna shake that thing’. Turns out it was saying ‘Joanna, shake that thing’. So sad.
