Contours, Capsules & Cutting My Hair

Five Things

It’s time to bundle together the best of beauty, fashion and everything in between from the past seven days. All edited down to five of the top products, videos, posts, releases and the rest that have had me clicking away…

1. The Best Contour Palette Yet. Now you know I love my Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder, but I’ve found its creamy counterpart and I bloody love it. It’s the Anastasia Cream Contour Kit in Fair and it’s beautiful (in particular the bottom left colour, Fawn). The textures are moveable and creamy, but not oily and they’re easy to blend but set into place after a while. It’s just so nice to have a cream contour on hand for when you don’t want to add any powder to your face at all. Fancy a full review? Let me know…

2. A Capsule Wardrobe Tour. A few weekends back whilst Mark and I were waiting for our friends to arrive I made the most of his filming skills and coerced him into a filming a Capsule Wardrobe Tour with me. Of course you guys know what’s inside already, but I thought you might like to see how I store and organise it all and see what are my favourite, favourite pieces. It will be up on Wednesday if you fancy a nose around.

3. Getting There With My Hair. I must admit that I did not feel my most recent hair cut at all. It was layer-less, a little bit too short and made me feel like a mushroom. In fact I think it ended my love affair with short-ish hair and with it now having grown a little I’m feeling like letting it get to a more collarbone, mid-length kinda thing. I don’t think I’ll ever get to Uni Anna lengths again, but for now I’m enjoying having a bit more hair on my head.

4. A Brand-New BeautyBlender. My last BeautyBlender had a good run and probably lasted around a year-ish – maybe a bit less – but with it looking all stained and a little torn it was time to upgrade and man does a fresh one feel good. I never thought I’d be a full on BeautyBlender convert and even though I still find it a bit time consuming when it comes to applying foundation, for doing that final bit of blending and bouncing in concealer, contour and practically any cream product, it’s a dream.

5. I’m A Pillow Addict. And it’s all H&M Home’s fault. Some stores have a bit of a pants selection, but the online range is fab and I’m having a great time putting the finishing touches to our living room with some new cushion covers and throws. Off course anything palm/banana leaf print is right up my street (check here and here) so I may have picked up a few for the bedroom too…

  • I think short hair looks good on you, not like a mushroom, come on girl! 🙂

I love short hair on you! I’ve had it as short as “Uni Anna” for a month or two now and it hasn’t grown past my collarbone!!! Like you, I feel like a mushroom every single day. Especially after I wash my hair hahaha.

  • I secretly love longer hair on you so very glad to hear you’re letting your locks grow out again! I reckon mid long hair half way between elbow and shoulders would be perfect!

  • Sophie

Can I just say a huge thank you Anna! You inspired me to start gong back to the gym with your blog posts. Here I am a stone lighter since November and up at 8am on a Saturday ready to go for my next run.

    Sophie xx

  • I think any length of hair suits you Anna, I’m always a little jealous that you can rock it so beautifully. I’ve just got a beauty blender and who knew a sponge could be like magic? x

  • I would love to see a full review on the Anastasia Cream Contour kit and, as you don’t contour much, to learn how to use it in a natural way!

  • Desiree

Ana, no! I loved your short hair, I looked so awesome that I decided to cut and colour it almost the same and I love. Now they’ve grown as long as yours and they totally annoy me because they just don’t look good and hang around my head. But anyways? you always look beautiful.

  • Lydia

Never thought I’d be a Beauty Blender convert either, but I’m hooked too. Who knew a tiny pink egg could be so magical?!

  • Your hair looks really nice, Anna!
The Anastasia contour palette looks nice, but isn’t it a little bit warm in tone?
I hope you have a great day, beautiful! xx

  • lucy prosser

I’m now checking out H&M cushions! Love it! Lovely post 🙂

  • I really want to get into contouring more, but as the Anastasia platte is quite pricey I would love to see a full review on it before I splurge.

The contour kit sounds great! Also, I think your hair looks lovely, especially in the photo, it looks so bouncy and full of volume – teach me your ways, haha! xo

  • I really wish my local H&M had a home section because anytime I see anyone talk about their products I immediately fall in love! It just looks so nice!

  • Cheyanne

I would love your full review on the Anastasia Cream Contour Kit! I have been looking for a great kit but because I have eczema that causes little dry spots on my face powder always settles awkwardly! Great post 🙂

  • I have the older Anastasia Cream palette and it’s not my favorite, but I know they’ve reformulated it and it’s supposed to be much better!

  • Really need to get my hands on the Anastasia Contour Kit, heard so many good things about it! Loving the H&M home section too, almost as much as Next Home- sooo nice!x

  • Kimberly Ann

Love your hair! And I seriously need a new beauty blender. I’ve used mine to death!

Ooo I really want to try a cream contour kit!! xx

  • Anna

Great post, Anna. Uh, I’m feeling the same way as you do about my hair lately… my last hair cut was too short, from now on only mid-lenght hair cuts for me, too!
FYI: If you are interested, pillows are on sale on Society6 until tomorrow at this link 😉

You are beautiful Anna, but that recent hair was just not your thing. I love uni anna hair but ultimately it’s your decision, but your face just looks so nice with longer hair framing it….and suits your whole figure. Can’t wait to see some longer locks, even if they only brush the collarbone!

  • I too am a former beauty blender sceptic turned converted!

  • Amelia

Oooh i’m looking forward to your wardrobe video!

  • All your campus wardrobe videos have inspired me to clear out my closet!! I never been to an H&M home but they’re opening in Canada soon so i might have to pop by!! 🙂

  • I love cushions and pillows – Homesense is awesome, and a FAIR contour kit girl we need the hookup!

  • I need a capsule wardobe so badddd.

    Sophie x

  • I’m really looking forward to your wednesday video! 🙂

to be completely honest, I love your mid length longer hair style too.

  • Briony

Would love a review of the Anastasia Cream Contour Kit in Fair! I am in desperate need of new contouring products, I always seem to skip it it these days.

  • The Sunday Mode

I love your hair when it’s around mid length, I think it especially suits you around that length but honestly you pull off a lot of different cuts! Glad to hear other people’s beauty blender’s get a little torn as well, I always felt like I must be wolverine or something because mine seems to always get tears in them.

  • I’m seriously addicted to your organisation and capsule wardrobe videos!

  • I love your posts/videos about the capsule wardrobe! You have such incredible taste. Can’t wait to see how the new flat turns out!

  • mathilde

I love the length of your hair, it suits you so much at that length! And I’m also a pillow addict because of H&M Home! Have a lovely Sunday.

  • Damn Anna, don’t make me want the ABH Cream Contour Kit even more than I already did! Haha, seriously though, we need the full review 😉 I also need a new BeautyBlender, they are amazing for concealer and foundation xx

  • Anna, I love your haircut! It suits your hair so well x

  • Looking forward to the wardrobe tour 😀

Full ABH cream contour review please! X

  • Anaid Chrietzberg

Oh hair, you fickle temptress… I had exactly 4 haircuts in under a month and needless to say I went from shoulder-length to pixie (with some MAJOR mishaps along the way!) and crying myself to sleep hoping that my hair nightmare was over every morning. You’d think I would learn after the last Great Pixie Disaster of 2013. C’mon hair, grow! I’m sure I could bribe it somehow…

  • Cory Hitt

please do a full review of the abh kit in fair! thanks x
