My New Makeup Home & The Best Liquid Lipsticks

Five Things

It’s time to bundle together the best of beauty, fashion and everything in between from the past seven days. All edited down to five of the top products, videos, posts, releases and the rest that have had me clicking away…

1. PB&J Porridge. I’m having a moment with porridge recently. Not the sexiest of affairs I know, but I’m a real breakfast girl at heart and I need a Man VS Food epic portion of grub in the morning to fill me up and I find that a gigantic bowl of oats really hits that spot. The secret is to use a 2:1 ratio of liquid to oats and heat it up on the stove, not the microwave. I throw in a handful of frozen raspberries before I start heating up the mixture and serve it with a dollop of peanut butter. PB&J porridge in about four minutes. Easy peasy.

2. The Best Liquid Lipsticks. I know I’ve already mentioned them this week, but just incase you missed my rave (catch-up here) then I thought it was worth shining a spotlight on the amazing NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams again. If you haven’t given them a go yet, then it’s time to head to your nearest Boots (yep, the Brighton one has a counter now!) and have a swatch-a-thon. I’d highly recommend Cannes, Stockholm, Morocco and Copenhagen.

3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Primers: The Verdict. I mentioned on my Snapchat (‘viviannamakeup‘ if you were wondering) that I’d let you know how I got on with the Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primers after I’d given them a proper go and I’m sad to say that I’m not really a fan. There is one more shade available, but I tried two – Dim Light, which was just too bronze-y and warm for my skintone and then Luminous Light, which worked well with my complexion but just felt a bit thick and cakey to apply. Unfortunately I didn’t see much of a difference with these, but hey – I’ll stick to the powder products in this range because they ROCK.

4. My New Makeup Home. I’m having a complete overhaul of my makeup application spot in our bedroom (which is currently the floor) and turning it into a mini vanity area with a table and a mirror and a chair and everything – somewhere to sit! A revelation! The table that I purchased however is drawer-less so my makeup needs a new home and that’s where this Oliver Bonas number comes in. It hasn’t arrived yet, but I can’t wait to stuff it to the rafters (and probably realise it fits about 30% of what I need it to).

5. Sweet For Stripes. You might have noticed from a few mini hauls that I’ve snapped, that I’m having a real moment with all things stripy right about now. I think my favourite purchase though, has to be this Mads Norgaard Baby Breton Top that I picked up from Our Daily Edit. Isn’t it so darn chic? Now I just have to wait for it to stop snowing over here (yes really!!) to wear it.
