Eye Pads

If you recount my horror film-esque experience with sheet masks from my ‘First Time Sheet Mask-er’ post, then you’ll already know how I feel about floppy, pre-moistened cloths being slapped on my face and deemed a skincare solution. Though never one to turn down a beauty-related challenge I thought I’d road test sheet mask’s eye-centric equivalent – Skyn Iceland’s Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels. The clue to their function is in the name. Each sachet reveals two boomerang shaped gels that feel somewhat like a shoe innersole, you stick them on your bags and sit back while they cool and do their thang on puffiness. Now that doesn’t sound too horrendous, does it?

Reviews I’ve stumbled across on these are mixed, it’s a ‘love ’em/hate ’em’ kind of situation and I fall into the love ’em set. Easy to apply, despite their questionable texture, I pressed them on, sat back and switched on Scandal (my latest obsession is to ogle at Kerry Washington and her amazeballs complexion). Done. Ten minutes later off they came and my under eyes felt cool, calm, collected and decidedly less puffy. There’s a whole list of supposed skincare benefits that I’ll spare you (click here for the list) and though I wouldn’t class them as miracle workers I’ll be keeping a pack handy for itchy eyes/jet-lagged/general tiredness/can you tell I’ve been crying (?) situations when I need perking up.

£25 for eight pairs from Marks & Spencer. Perhaps I’ll give those sheet masks another go…
