Bright Eyes

While having a flick through this months edition of ELLE, I stumbled across a trend piece focused on ‘Bright Eyes’. Interesting, I thought. Aren’t bright eyes always in? Who doesn’t want the bright eyed, bushy-tailed, sparkling peepers look? My hand is firmly raised in the air. So here’s an edit of the best eye creams, serums and brighteners that I reach for on a daily basis to fake a full 10 hours sleep…

As with anything skincare based, the key is in the prep. If I’m having a non-forgetful day then I try to incorporate an serum into my routine – morning and evening if I remember. The Elemis  Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment* has been my weapon of choice recently and after that I pat in a small amount of the most refreshing eye cream out there (I reckon), the Lierac Dipoti Clam Anti-Fatigue. I love this stuff. It cools, soothes and generally makes my eyes feel all-round luverly. Whether this routine works, you’ll have to check back with me in 20 years time on that one. Concealers are a product category that seem to be slowly taking over my stashes at the moment – love ’em. I’m currently switching between three. The Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Sand for extremely dark and baggy days, the By Terry Touche Veloutee in 3 when I need something a little more illuminating but still need a good dose of coverage and YSL’s Touche Éclat in 1* (I promise they’ll be a day when I don’t feature this in a post, but for now it’s firmly in my daily grip) for good days when I just need a hint of radiance. The final little secret is to apply a flesh toned pencil on the waterline to blank out any redness – genius! For that I use the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Pencil in Nude*, which has now magicked itself onto counters. Run, run, run.

With six hours sleep under my belt and my peepers looking far from perfect it’s time to put my bright eyed edit into action!
