Bobbi Brown Haulin’ & Her First Ever Lipstick

IMG_8913 IMG_8894

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting the extremely lovely Bobbi Brown. I know, pinch me. Luckily I had Lily by my side who is as cool as a cucumber in these situations to force me into being a functioning human being in the presence of such awesome company. She was everything and more I thought she would be; creative, witty, honest, crazy hardworking and surprisingly petite. She spoke us through the beginnings of her business, their ethos and how it had grown over the years into the beauty heavyweight it was today. Fun fact: Did you know that Bobbi’s line began with just 10 lipsticks? Having never been able to seek out the perfect nude, she created her own blend, named Beige, which she got a lab to whip up along with nine other shades and that’s how Bobbi Brown the brand, was born.

After meeting this lovely lady Lily and I had a Bobbi Brown itch that we needed to scratch, so headed straight from breakfast to their counter in Liberty – I know, fast work. We came, we saw, we hauled and here is the contents of my shopping bag…

I’d got it into my head that the colour that kickstarted the whole thing needed to be mine. Bobbi’s perfect nude? I’m in. And I’ve got to say that her Lipstick in Beige is beautiful. It’s more peachy than MAC Patisserie and a little sheerer in finish, but more pigmented than CHANEL’s Rouge Coco in Adrienne. It’s lovely and has slotted in firmly to the ‘not sure what lip colour to wear, then wear this’ category.

The other thing I picked up was the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Bronze. An antiqued golden with a tonne of sheen, the colour is well up my street and though I don’t find it as long-lasting as other shadow sticks that I own, it can be beefed up longevity-wise with a layer of primer underneath. On the upside the extra slip makes the finish more glossy and the whole thing easier to blend.

While my other two purchases I’m more than chuffed with, there is one thing that I’m pretty much guaranteed to be using in every picture/Instagram/tutorial/makeup look until it runs out – the new Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil. I’d been eyeing this up since release because it ticked all my usual brow pencil requirements: a waxy thick nib on one end with a spoolie on the other, but the difference with this one was the colour range. There are eight colours in total so there truly is going to be a match for everyone and there’s a straight-up grey shade – Slate – which is the one that I went for and for my extremely dark brows it’s perfect. It adds definition without warmth and looks so darn natural.

So Bobbi – thanks for being a babe and making some fine ass beauty products. *bows down, desperately tries to curb the need to  bundle Bobbi into a awkwardly long hug*
