A Capsule Wardrobe Update: The Magic Monki Top

Now that you’ve seen everything that features in my Autumn Capsule Wardrobe, I thought I’d drop in from time to time and shine the spotlight on some of my favourite items that I’ve been grabbing a tonne. The versatile pieces that can go from day to night and every occasion in-between or even just the slouchy things that make me feel like a badass when I’m picking up milk from the shop. You into that? Please say yes because today it’s happening…

I though that the Monki Tie Waist Sleeveless Shirt needed to be shoved into the middle of the dance circle first. I knew when I put my autumn capsule together that I’d need a top that could work for times when I needed to look a little more polished and put together and a big ol’ fluffy jumper (my fave!) just wouldn’t cut it. Something that showed a bit of skin in a subtle way and could be dressed-up and dressed-down. Then I spotted this and I just knew that it was perfect. The colour of course is in my comfort-zone, but the shape really isn’t. It’s almost like a tabard, tunic type thing with a wrap tie that goes around the waist and two big pockets on the front. It sits mid-bum, has a not-too-booby v-neck and cuts at the top of the arm. I don’t know, there was just something a little bit different about it.

I love it. Though when Mark first saw it, he mistook me for a cleaning lady *raises eyebrow*. I personally like to wear it with my faux-leather trousers and some kind of pointy boot, but it works well as a layering piece too because it hangs quite low, so it adds a bit of length to my slightly shorter knit tops. The best bit is that I usually wear this out when we have dinner date nights and the food baby that you can hide under here can be seriously huge. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for my trousers. If anyone knows of some elasticated faux-leather bottoms, then throw ’em my way…
