Yo Blackheads – Want To Get Off My Face?

IMG_1213

To date I’ve been pretty lucky with my skin *touches wood*. Sure, sometimes it resembles the texture of sandpaper after a few hours of foundation wear if the formula is particularly moisture-zapping and it does have the tendency to go the colour of a tomato whenever I’m hot/sweating profusely/extremely nervous; but I’m aware that it could behave much worse. Recently though, due to a change in medication, my complexion appears to be on a blackhead producing mission. And not just blackheads. Every now and again it treats me to one of those ‘under the skin, feels like a bruise but never really comes to anything’ pimples, right in the nose crease. Luverly.

When it comes to my spot-fighting technique I don’t like to change things up too much. In fact I keep my day-to-day routine exactly the same. I go for the ‘if I ignore them they might give up‘ approach. There is one thing I change up though and that’s my mask routine. I shift from my exfoliating, radiance-boosting formulas and bring out the kaolin-fuelled bad boys and instead of cracking them out once a week I up my use to every other evening in a real attempt to kick my lurkers and blackheads to the curb.  For the most part, it works. The painful pimples seem to fast-forward to their slightly dried-out day 3 stage and the blackheads look a little less pronounced and bulbous. It’s a work in progress, but incase a family of blackheads have set up camp on your chin too I thought I’d share my favourite mask formulas:

The One That Boosts Radiance TooCharlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask. Not only do I find that this one reduces the size of any type of spot, I also find that it works well at smoothing out my skin and boosting luminosity too. Basically it’s a good all-rounder. I’m not a huge fan of C.T skincare (though it’s a different story with the makeup), but this mask is just *inserts thumbs up emoji*.

The Quickie Face MaskEstée Lauder NightWear Plus 3 Minute Detox Mask. I love this one as a daily ‘second cleanse’ step as it’s just so quick. I apply it, brush my teeth and rinse it off. It’s a light, yet effective mask so is a nice one to throw on in the morning if you just fancy refining things a little. Makeup always applies like a dream after I’ve done this.

The Old Skool Clay MaskOrigins Clear Improvements Face Mask. This one is a classic. It’s heavy duty, so I wouldn’t recommend applying this in the morning and then rocking out the door, but I like to throw it on in the evenings, applying it just where I need it. My favourite of the three *insert two thumbs up emojis*.
