The NYX Haul That’s All AH-mazing

IMG_0697

To say I was excited when I spotted a mahoosive double-sided NYX counter tucked away in the back of the Selfridges Beauty Workshop a few weeks ago is an understatement. My heart starting beating a little faster and my debit card got ready to take a thrashing. NYX is one of those brands that I’ve heard so much about, but never given it a go properly before. It’s practically impossible to hunt down in the U.K (though I do remember seeing a display in my local NEXT, which was unfortunately empty), so this huge offering in Selfridges is warmly welcomed. There was a bit of everything from base products to contour kits and a tonne of lip colours and various different brow options. A lot of swatching happened and in the end I walked away with four things, but my debit card needn’t have worried because this stuff comes complete with a drugstore price-tag – nice – and you know what? I’m chuffed with it all…

Let’s talk brow products first. With my Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Longwear Brow Pencil coming to an end, I was in the market for some new brow things and there was a load at the NYX counter to choose from. They had pencils and pomades and everything in between, but in the end I went for the Eyebrow Marker in Medium and the Tinted Brow Mascara in Brunette. I haven’t really ever tried the whole eyebrow ‘pen’ thing before and with any that I had swatched the colour always seemed to be off; but when I gave this a whirl on the back of my hand the soft shade and neutral tone got me. It’s almost like watercolour for my brows; offering up subtle definition and because it’s wet I’ve found it so much easier to use than a pencil product. I think I’m converted. The gel is awesome too because it quite dry in texture which means that such a small amount comes out on the wand you don’t end up looking like you’ve brushed actual mascara through your brows, which ain’t a great look.

After some umm-ing and ahh-ing I bought home two Soft Matte Lip Creams in Cannes and Morocco. Now let me tell you, the texture and finish of these are insane. Yes the finish is matte, but it’s so comfortable to wear and paired with the light texture it feels more like a stain than anything else. They also don’t move. Like don’t even try to get these off without some kind of heavy duty remover because you’re wasting your time. It’s almost like a light film of colour for your lips that once it’s dried down you forget it’s even there. I will definitely be heading back for more colours of these. Recommendations please…
