L’oreal Lumi Magique Line Review

For a few months now I have been ditching powder and mattifying products for a more dewy, natural look so when I heard of the new L’oreal Lumi Magique line I was intrigued. Designed to create a luminous, ‘lit from within’ glow, L’oreal have recently released a Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer*, Light Infusing Foundation* and Touch of Light Highlighting Pen* all of which I have been testing out for the past few weeks. And you know what I think the line contains a fantastic dupe, an absolute gem and a complete dud!

First up the Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer, a liquid highlighter that be used both under or over foundation to give a luminosity and radiance to the skin, priced at £9.99. I found this to add a nice glow to my face and not interfere at all with the longevity of my foundation. This will be great for drier skins that perhaps look a bit dull as it is quite moisturising, but I have fairly combo skin and I haven’t felt it get oiler at all. I’ve actually found it to be a great dupe for a higher-end product, but all will be revealed in a post coming soon (10 bonus points to anyone who can guess!).

Next up is what I think is the real gem of the collection, the Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation. I’m not a huge lover of drugstore foundations, in fact I’ve never found one that I’ve got on with until this one! It’s actually cheap(ish), £10.99 by the way and I would 100% recommend! It’s a medium to full coverage foundation, but still gives a natural finish – it’s definitely not matte, more dewy but not oily or heavy. It actually reminds me quite a lot of my beloved Jemma Kidd Light As Air but with a little less staying power. That is my only quibble with this foundation (aside from it’s poor six colour shade range), I guess cause of my oily skin, is that it lasts about 6 hours before it starts to break down and need a bit of touching up. A powder over the top would probably make it last a few extra hours but I think it would make the skin look too cakey. It’s a foundation that I will use on my lazy days where I know I only need it to last for a few hours. For reference I have the shade N4 Pure Beige which is a pretty good match for my NC/NW25 skintone.

Finally what I have labelled the dud, the Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen, which can be purchased in three shades at £8.99 each. I have the shade Medium and on first application I thought it was great. A very light consistency, that was brightening and covering under the eyes, perfecto! However, when I woke up the following morning I had tiny little red bumps under my eyes, not attractive and the finger was pointing in the direction of this product. So I am afraid it has been ditched. Although on initial impressions I thought it was great, I would say exercise some caution when testing out this product, especially if you have sensitive skin.

So there you have it, if I had to recommend anything from the line it would be the Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation; it’s a great foundation for the price and easily the best drugstore foundation I have tried. If you want to see what all three products look like on my face check out this post where I was giving them all a whirl. Has anyone else tried anything from the L’oreal Lumi Magique Line? Thoughts?
