Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder: Now I get it…

I’m pretty sure the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders take the trophy for most frenzy-inducing beauty launch of the year. Stock that flew off the shelves leading to a month-long manhunt to find one and a bevy of rave reviews that followed. Of course I caved and purchased the shade Diffused Light (almost planting a kiss on the Liberty counter girl when she handed it over); with Mood Light also finding its way into my stash a few weeks later. Sure I liked them. But with their launch coinciding with that of the CHANEL Les Beiges collection, I didn’t pay it my full attention, with Les Beiges becoming my new beauty beau.

Fast forward a few months down the line and now I get it. A need for long lasting makeup combined with a flawless application in Ruth’s video caused me to pick up my compact, dust it off and dust it on. And now it’s love. Mood Light is pretty (and has an air of the Bourjois Java Rice Powder about it, like I mentioned the other day), but it’s Diffused Light that has become a favourite. With an ability to set without becoming cakey, add  highlight without looking shimmering and somehow ramping redness down a few levels – it’s awesome. And I’m not sure there’s anything else on the market like it. £38 from Space NK. Diffused Light – I’m sorry that it took a while to warm up between us. My apologies.
