Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Emerveillé

Urban Decay Sin, Chanel Emerveillé, MAC All That Glitters

In my September Favourites video I mentioned my new eyeshadow love – Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Emerveillé. I got it for my birthday, and with a £22.50 price tag this is definitely something to purchase as a treat! But isn’t it beautiful? The colour itself is right up my street! A peachy gold, with champagne shimmers it is easily something that could be worn everyday just swept over the lid. Although the colour is a beaut, it’s the formula that does it for me. As I said in the video it just reminds me of ‘fluff’, springier than a foam, lighter than a gel and much more softer than a cream, it’s one of those you have to feel to believe, as dreamy as that sounds! It comes housed in a heavy glass jar with a luxe signature Chanel black lid and a small brush (although you know how strongly I feel about brushes that come with things, it was tossed to the floor). Ever since I brought it last week I have worn it everyday since on my eyes with lashes of mascara. The staying power is good, I put on my makeup about 6am and by 7pm it is still around, slightly creased, but this is rectified by a quick swipe of Urban Decay Primer Potion prior to application. To show you it’s true beauty, I have attempted to take a photo of it on the eyes, but in true beauty blogger style despite taking around 30 photos they were all pants and I’ve had to settle for one where you can see a tiny hint of colour peeking out from the inner corners of my eye.

You get the idea 😉 Just a very natural look, with a subtle peachy glow! When it comes to application, I guess I really haven’t really found the knack yet; I’ve tried using the mini applicator that comes with it, but it applies too sheerly when I use that, a MAC 217 doesn’t pick up enough product, and I don’t feel like my Benefit Flat Shadow brush gets the colour on as well as it should. I found that sweeping it on with my fingers and blending up slightly gives the most intense colour, but this makes me feel a little ‘ew’, so if any of you have any recommendations then do pop them below!

When I first brought Emerveillé home I thought that I would have a ridiculous amount of dupes already in my collection; you guys know I am rather partial to a ‘peachy/gold’ neutral shado. However when I swatched this against some possible dupes I was surprised..

See they are all completely different! See! See 😉 Urban Decay’s ‘Sin’ is the closest dupe to Chanel Emerveillé, but as you can see Emerveillé is slightly paler and ‘nuder’ I guess you could say. When I first purchased Emerveillé I thought that it’s closest rival would be MAC ‘All That Glitters’ eyeshadow, which you guys know is my FAV eyeshadow of all time, but it looks almost a pinky bronze in comparison and much less neutral than Emerveillé, I have a feeling that my new Chanel purchase may overtake it as my HG eyeshadow. I have seriously worn it everyday since I brought it, it’s so easy and quick to throw on, and gives a natural glow to my lids without looking overdone as it is closer to my natural skintone.
