Champagne Pop: Round Two

When it comes to highlighters, no one quite floats my boat in that category as much as BECCA Cosmetics. In fact I’d say since I picked up the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone around this time last year, I could probably count the days I used a different highlighter other than that on one hand, and it still doesn’t even look like I’ve used it once. It’s beautiful. Opaque enough that you only need a light dusting, but subtle enough that it doesn’t look like I dipped my face into the glitter section of a craft store.

Now the whole reason that I began to sample the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfectors was that last summer I, like every other highlighter junkie on the planet, went on a mission to scout out the Jaclyn Hill and BECCA collaboration Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop, which at the time was limited edition and thankfully now is not. I went a bit nuts for it and rightly so – it’s a stunner. A peachy, rose gold that gives a beachy glow and is pretty much the definition of #HighlightOnFleek. Now I don’t wear it everyday because I find that Moonstone is slightly less ‘in yer face‘ and so is easier to apply and I prefer Champagne Pop in the summer when I’ve got a bit more of a faux tan going on. However, when Jaclyn announced new additions to the Champagne Pop line, my ears pricked up…

Everyone has gone mad for the Champagne Collection Face Palette and the (now discontinued – what a palaver that is!) Eyeshadow Palette, but all along it was the new permanent additions that got me excited – the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Champagne Pop and BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured in Champagne Pop. Seeing as I’ve always found the original to be pretty ‘WOAH!’, these are the way to rock it as more of subtle nod and although they’re not officially released in the UK until the 5th July, I thought I’d drop in to let you know that these are definitely worth adding to your shopping list.

I’ve used both formulas before in different shades and I LOVE THEM. The liquid texture glides on easily and is a light cream that a little goes a long way with. You could try and pump out a small amount for your cheeks, but the effects would be extremely subtle, especially on medium to deep skin tones. Personally I like to use it as a foundation mixer to amp up the dewiness or on my décolletage and limbs for a sheen that J.Lo would be proud of. It’s basically a good one to pack in your bag for any hot weather holidays. The poured version is the one that sits in the middle of the liquid and powder in the ‘Can you see my highlighter from space?‘ spectrum. Still subtle, but a step up from the liquid. I like to apply it with my fingers and just pat it in over the tops of my cheekbones.

One thing that BECCA have managed to do here is keep the colour consistent between all the formulas. If you’re a Champagne Pop lover but want to experiment with different textures or find the original a little heavy, then here’s where you need to head. My top pick would be the Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid because it’s more multi-taking and as I said – gives those J.Lo-esque limbs. SOLD.
