The Weekend Post #22: The Basket Revisited

I’ve spoken about my beauty basket before. I’m always trying out new hair and body products so the basket is my way of keeping track of what things I’m using and loving at that moment; as things get used up I swap in new products from my stocks and if something is not up to scratch then out it goes and in comes another product to save the day. So it’s safe to say that a product has wheedled its way into the basket then its probably doing a good job. In the past weeks the basket has had an almost 100% overhaul so here are what products I’m slathering on my body and hair at the moment!

With Summer round the corner, I’m on moisturisation overdrive! I’m pretty good with this step in my beauty regime anyway, but I have been known to moisturise twice a day in the warmer weather. For all over my body the Kiehls Creme de Corps* is my favourite; it’s non-fragranced, no-fuss and isn’t too greasy. I put this on before bed and wake up in the morning feeling nice and silky smooth. For my thighs and derrière I’ve been giving the L’Occitane Almond Beautiful Shape Gel* a go which is supposed to help with cellulite. Now I’ll be the first to admit there are a few dimples occurring on my behind, but as with any product I’ve used claiming to help with this, I’m pretty dubious. It does smell nice though and gives a tingling sensation when used which is rather entertaining and means you can’t sit down for about 20 minutes! I’ll let you know how it goes…

Tanning products feature heavily in the basket of course. I’m always going be a big fan of the Xen Tan Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe, for me it gives the most natural, yet dark colour and lasts the longest amount of time. But I recently purchased the St Tropez Bronzing Spray, purely for the purpose of tanning the backs of my hands! Madness I know. But I’ve actually enjoyed using this as a bit of a ‘topper upper’ over the Xen Tan every few nights as it dries so quickly and is very easy to use although I do not care at all for the over perfumed scent. Another faux tanner I’m giving a go is the Estée Laduer Bronze Goddess Self-Tan Spray* – the jury is still out on this one. Although it did give my legs a nice colour, it sprays on clear which is always a little risky for me so it’s one I’ve got to keep experimenting with.

Recently I’ve had a hair product overhaul, and have really got into Bumble and Bumble stuff. I’ll describe my routine briefly here but a more in-depth haircare routine video will be up soon. The Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo and Let It Shine Conditioner* are my two go-to washing products. I have to say the Sunday Shampoo gets top marks from me, it cleans my hair so well that I only need to wash it now twice a week and both times I use this, seriously amazing stuff! If I fancy giving it a nourishing treatment then the Bumble and Bumble Deeep Mask works wonders and I make sure I use a squirt of the Moroccan Oil* each time I wash it. When it comes to styling I think I may have found the ultimate lazy hair, beach babe, voluminising duo in the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray and the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray. Both extremely pricey products but well worth it in my opinion. My hair has never looked so big, yet non-plussed. I think this combination of hair products could be here to say for a while.

Right, so that’s it for another weekend post! I hope you’ve all been enjoying the sun today! What hair and body products are you loving at the moment? I’m really tempted to try some faux tan from Vita Liberata, has anyone tried it? I’m intrigued!
