The Luminous Skin Lineup

From the few peeks I snatched backstage at LFW it’s fair to say that dewy skin ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. The locks may have been different, nail designs changed but one thing remained constant – a youthful complexion with that ‘glowing from within’ finish. I barely saw any of the artists even go within close radius of setting powder. At Orla Kiely they swiped Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick Compact in Rose across the cheekbones, for Zoë Jordan Bourjois Light Eyeshadow in 01 was tapped across the high points and probably the most impressive sheen of all came from the Shu Uemura Eye Light Pencil, which scribed on bone structure at KTZ’s runway.

With this well settled trend in mind I rummaged through my stash to find the real glow-getters and after some careful deductions came to the above luminous skin lineup. If you want to go the whole sandblasted skin hog then there’s four steps to take; namely primer, foundation, concealer and your traditional highlighter. I’ve thrown in a little edit for each for good measure, littered with the odd one or two purse friendly purchases that I think measure up to the big boys. It’s a nice mix if I say so myself and one that I layer on to imitate the faux-good-skin-glow or use individually for a more subtle nod to the trend.

So to see everything in action and for all the info and usual beauty bumf, select to ‘Watch on YouTube’. Remember – glowy not greasy (although it’s a line I often cross).

I love dewy make up looks but feel like I can’t really get away with it due to my blemished skin 🙁 x

  • Can’t wait to watch this one!  I’m on a foundation/concealer kick right now.

  • I love luminous dewy makeup, I fund it difficult though because I need to powder my oily areas. I love Jemma Kidd Radiance Cream but the Kevin Aucoin powder looks lovely!

  • I love the primer!

I actually just ordered the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector and am super excited to try it out (aka I’m stalking my Track Shipment info).  I’m also trying out the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation and have similarly been impressed.  Thanks for the great post!

  • I love the dewy-glow look and think it looks great on everyone. Great products for creating the look, you nailed it

Do you have any tips for staying on the right side of the glowy greasy line?  I love the glowy look but it errs on the side of greasy for me in the summer.  I hate powdering a glowy look though since that ruins all of the glowyness! Ahh the fun of combination skin…

  • When it comes to giving radiance to a face, correct primers and highlighters can do wonders. there are numerous products available that  can do the trick for u.

  • Great vid, Anna! What was the brush you used to apply the Kevin Aucoin highlighter? xx

I was about to ask the exact same thing 😛

  • loved the video 🙂 great picks
