A Trip to CHANEL

When something big happens in my life, I treat myself to a ‘commemorative’ nail polish. It’s true. I finish my last exams at Uni and end up walking through the checkouts with Essie’s Summer 2011 Collection in my hand, I graduate and Essie Topless and Barefoot is mine, every Christmas I pick myself up a OPI glitter from their holiday range. Ok perhaps the last example is a little tenuous, but you see where I’m going here – I like any old excuse to pick up a polish. With my impending plans to fly the nest and move out (which has rapidly swooped into a slot this weekend) and my Birthday (which is today, eek), I figured that was enough justification to treat myself to my first CHANEL polish or two…

I’ve had a lemming for CHANEL polishes for a long while now, but have always been put off by complaints of poor lasting power, but you know when it’s just something you need to give a go for yourself? And with my wishlist growing it was time to take the plunge. I’m sure a spree in the Covent Garden CHANEL Boutique wasn’t the best way to celebrate the impending grown-up doom of bills and a severe lack of disposable income but ya know it’s tradition. And when the lady handed me the dinky little black bag I actually gasped out loud and uttered, ‘and the award for cutest bag ever goes to…..’, so worth it. First up on my list was Holiday, an orange tinged red first released as part of their Summer collection but now a permanent shade. This may not be the most seasonal of colours right now, but I’m planning on rocking it with a golden ring finger accent – there’s nothing that a glitter nail can’t sort. Also making the cut is Frenzy a new limited edition offering. There’s been quite a buzz about this shade, everyone loves a good nude don’t they and after a sleepy application at midnight last night I have to say I’m joining the club. Caramel and warm enough not to look too ‘mannequin hands’ but with an interesting almost lavender tone it’s a nice shade for the cooler months.

So times are a changing people and the polishes are accumulating. Haha, any excuse for a new beauty purchase, eh!?
