A Bit of Burberry Eye Definer

Eyeliner is definitely not up there in my top makeup products. Give me a foundation, lipstick or blush any day, but eyeliner? No ta. I have a tiny handful of liners in my makeup drawers and the only one I tend to reach for, albeit very infrequently, is the Urban Decay double ended 24/7 Glide On Liner in Zero and Whiskey. But even then I find that it closes up my rather small eyes and just looks all-round unflattering on me. That was until I tried Burberrys newest eye pencil from their latest beauty campaign – the Burberry Eye Definer in No6 Golden Brown* as worn by thier newest model Edie Campbell. I think I may have found a game changer here…

Now lets get one thing straight – this is an ‘Eye Definer’, not an eyeliner exactly. A pencil that gives more of a subtle hint of definition and colour around the eyes, think somewhere between an eyeliner and a shadow pencil; I think that’s why I like it so much as it gives a very natural ‘just slept in’ vibe to my makeup. The formula gets a thumbs up too – creamy enough to be blended softly around the eyes, but long-wearing and easy to throw on. But it’s the colour that makes me reapply every morning – a gorgeous golden brown – exactly what it says on the tin really! A tiny hint of shimmer stops it from being too harsh and mimicking my undereye circles, it’s not too warm or too cool just a flattering neutral brown that I like to wear blended quite low under the eyes and flicked up very subtly along the outer corners of the top lashline.

In the photo above I’m wearing it with a light covering of the Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation in 03 (full review of that here), and the Burberry Sheer Concealer in No3 Rosy Beige* which I’ve been finding great at correcting my undereye dark circles. For cheeks I have been dusting on the Burberry Sheer Summer Highlighter* (full review here), but applying more of the darker side for a bronzed look. On the eyes, aside from the Burberry Eye Definer in No6 Golden Brown*, I added a touch of the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Naked all over the lid with lashings of the L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara. I’ve also been loving the lip combo of YSL’s Rouge Pur Lipstick in 148 Tea Rose with Laura Mercier’s Lip Glacé in Nude Peach patted over the top – nude lip perfection!

The Burberry Eye Definer in Golden Brown should be making it’s way onto counters very soon and will be priced at £15.50. Do you like the look of it? What’s your favourite brown everyday liner? I think I may be a changed lady and start wearing it everyday. Madness, I know! I’m really having a Burberry moment recently, keep an eye out for a Burberry makeup tutorial soon!

That makeup is absolutely gorgeous, I will definitely be copying that! Love the eyeliner, really suits you. When you use the L’oreal waterproof telescopic, how do you remove it?

    • Thanks hun! I give it a little rub with the bioderma and it all comes off 🙂

  • sounds good your eye make up looks lovely in that photo x

    • Thanks hun 🙂

You know what, so many women are obsessed with their eyeliner and refer to it as a necessity, but I am totally with you on this one – no no! Unless I am going for a full-on smoked-out dark eye look, having little eyemake-up and lashings of eye-liner just result in something really unflattering :-/. HOWEVER, this does look promising! I have yet to try any of the Burberry make-up, but I’ve been hearing nothing but positive reviews…x

    • Haha I always feel exactly the same when people talk about eyeliner – but this is making me change my mind! 🙂

  • Your lips are gorgeous with that combination and the eye definer looks good too. I’m the same with eyeliner I find it makes my under eye darkness even more so! Blurgh. Not badly priced either as pencils tend to last a long time.

    • Aw thanks hun! I was quite surprised by the price too – not too bad! 🙂

  • Lovely! Does it stay on well? Anytime I wear eyeliner it always ends up smudging everywhere – not a good look!

    • Haha yes it stays on pretty well, as the colour is so subtle you don’t really notice it moving around too much 🙂

  • Lauren

Looks great on you! It reminds me of Mac Powersurge, have you ever tried it?

    • No I haven’t – but I knew it reminded me of a MAC one, just couldn’t remember the name! 🙂

  • anothercinderella

That looks gorgeous, I normally go for full on black winged eyeliner but as we (hopefully) get into the warmer weather I might give this a try instead

    • Thanks! Oh yes do – it’s much more Summer friendly 🙂

  • Reminds me of a browner version of MAC’s Powersurge. Looks beautiful on ya girl! x

  • Octoberchic

  • josieowen

  • Lourdes

I have to say, I have become an instant fan of yours. I just love your classiness and everything’s you review I end up buying and loving!!! Thanks you.

  • Abi

I LOVE YSL Rouge Pur Tea Rose, but it’s been discontinued! Have you seen Rouge Pur Couture Beige Tribute? Looks similar, but not sure if it’s quite pinky enough…

  • Eliza

    really brings out your eyes!

  • That color is gorgeous! I’m right there with you- I can never pull off dark colors around my eyes. It just really seems to close them off. For day-to-day wear I just stick with a thin line of liquid liner on my top lashes which seems to define my eyes just enough 🙂
