Where To Shop For Beauty in London

London

Following on from last weekend’s ‘Five Things To Do In London At The Weekend’ post, I thought I’d have a stab at a subject I know way more about – where to shop for beauty in the capital. Now I reckon I have that topic down. Of course there are quite literally hundreds of spots across the city where you can shop for the stuff, but there are a few beauty highlights dotted across central that are well worth the visit if you fancy filling your boots with all things pretty…

OXFORD STREET – WARNING: Do not head here during rush hour in the evening unless you want to be held outside the station due to overcrowding. Nice. One to save for quieter times, but there’s so much to see here. I’d suggest heading to the Topshop Beauty Section first which is a mash-up of their own brand stuff and BeautyMART, then drop down to Liberty which is probably my favourite place to shop full stop. Inside there’s a mix of prestige brands, a cosy perfume room and a corner that’s filled with kitsch stock that you won’t find anywhere else. The MAC Pro Store is just round the corner off Carnaby Street (drop by Ben’s Cookies on the way down) and then pop into KIKO on your way back to the station.

BOND STREET – This walking tour takes in the big beauty boys and some of the more niche ones. Fenwicks is a great place to head for beauty and is usually a bit quieter than the others, so there’s time and space for serious mooching. Back up on Oxford Street is Selfridges which basically has every brand you could ever want when it comes to beauty; the Charlotte Tilbury counter and the Beauty Workshop bit (head towards the chocolate/stationery section – literally the three things I love all in one place) are the highlights. If you find your way up to Marylebone you’ll find the Fresh store (yes, we have one in the UK!) and Being Content which is a great place to find all things organic beauty.

SPITALFIELDS – I tend to pass through Liverpool Street station frequently and let me tell you the Boots inside the station might just be one of the best ones I’ve ever been in. Super quiet during non-commuting times, it’s packed with makeup (and there’s even a Burberry makeup counter!). En route to Spitalfield’s Market there’s also a Space NK, a well-hidden Planet Organic and in the main shopping areas there’s a spacious MAC and a two storey Whistles. Hells yeah.

COVENT GARDEN – In recent years a load of brands have set up shop here, practically in a row, making it a prime beauty spot. On the outskirts of the main plaza there’s CHANEL, Dior and Burberry – all of which are worth a visit. Bobbi Brown is just round the corner too and I must say it’s very cool to be a whole store of just Brown’s stuff. It’s like candy. If you head back up towards to the station you’ll find a two floor MAC and just past the station towards Seven Dials there’s a pretty big Space NK. Phew. I’d recommend a visit to Monmouth Coffee or Homeslice for refreshments after that trek. Well deserved, eh?
