Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette: 3 Ways

Given that we’re talking the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette here, it only seems fitting that I propose three ways to wear it. Right? I gave my original thoughts on U.D’s latest offering a few weeks ago, but after almost a month to play and with the fact that it’s now on the market I thought it was about time to revisit this neutral rosy-hued line-up. To build on my last musings on this eyeshadow arsenal, it’s good, like real good. There are enough mattes to keep things understated during daytime, a good choice of shimmers for evening and the majority featured warm-tones work well with the few cooler options also included in the palette – it’s an all-rounder. Raving over, onto the looks…

LOOK 1 – The Everyday Eye. Now this is an easy one – keep to the left side of the palette and you can’t go wrong. I usually begin with a light wash of Strange all over the lid to even things out and add a layer of the MAC All That Glitters-esque Burnout over the top.  Finish things off with a touch of the pale pinky brown Limit in the crease and boom – you’re done. Though it must be noted that this look works equally well with the slightly more taupe-ier Liar all over the eyes too.

LOOK 2 – Keeping It Matte. A fully matte eye affair is my main purpose for this palette and actually this combination pairs particularly nicely with a bold lip. I begin by dusting Limit all over the lid space and popping a smidge of Strange in the inner corner. Nooner, a warm violety brown gets dusted in the crease and then I run a small amount of Darkside a grey-brown along the outer corners of my lash line, top and bottom. Nooner, as I predicted, is the colour I get the most use out of from the 12. On lazy days I wash it all over, bring a little under my eyes and pair with mascara for a ‘look I made some kind of effort’ definition.

LOOK 3 – A Dark and Stormy. You ready to go all out? I reckon this blend has NYE written all over it. It’s a simple technique, layering up the three darkest shades in the palette. Begin with Mugshot applied as the base, all-over shade, blended quite high into the socket and slowly build-up Darkside into the crease – the shimmer:matte ratio is equalled out by these two. Then for the extra somethin’ somethin’ incorporate the black with red micro shimmer (sounds awful, looks beautiful) shade Blackheart slightly in the crease, along the lash line and smoked-out below. One Dark and Stormy coming right up.

That’s just three ways but there’s a whole host of combinations locked up in this compact – 33, 333? I’m just getting carried away with the threes now. It’s available now at House of Fraser for £37. Damn that seven ruining my flow…
