The Weekend Post #103: VDM Best Bits

Seeing as it’s the last ‘Weekend Post’ of the year I though I’d take a retrospective look back through 2013’s VDM archives and dig a little deeper into the most read features of the year. It makes for quite an interesting list actually, seeing what posts were the most popular among you and there’s a variety of topics dominating the highlights. Picking a favourite post is akin to what I can imagine picking a favourite child would be like, however some of my favourites to put together also appeared to be your favourites to read. Phew. So *insert Top of the Pops music here*, lets look at the top five most-read posts of 2013 shall we?

At number five we haveToner: The Forgotten Step. It appears that you guys have a soft spot for skincare too. Welcome to the club. Toner and me had a bit of a revelation with each other this year. Before it was a step that I didn’t pay must attention to but with the discovery of the fact that different formulas exist: clarifying, hydrating, exfoliating – who knew? They became a staple in my routine and this post details some of my favourites.

Number four isRimmel Do MAC Dupes. Budget lipsticks in a beaut of a formula. What could be better? Er, the fact that some colours mimic those of MAC. Hell yes. The re-vamp of the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick line made a big splash in the beauty world this year. They are nice and creamy, come in a tonne of shades (most frost-free – whoop), are easy on the pocket and there’s a dupe for one of my favourite MAC colours in there.

Coming in at threeThe Weekend Post #91: Top 10 Beauty Blogs. Well this puts a smile on my face. If you missed it then it’s worth worth a read. Cutting my perusing list into just ten beauty blogs and sites that I visit on a daily basis was a toughie but they are all still visits I make each morning. Just make sure you have an hour cleared in your schedule first before you click the link.

A close secondUrban Decay Naked 3 Palette. A late entry into the ranks but an unsurprising one as I’d give the Naked 3 Palette the title of ‘The Launch of ’13’. Where did it come from? It snuck up from nowhere and then we all went a bit heart-eyed emoji over it but it truly is lush. Rosy-gold hues that I’ve been reaching for a lot since I got it and that’s a big move for a non-eyeshadow wearing gal like myself. I gotta say – it’s worth the hype.

And the most read post of the year is….The Cookie Monster. I love makeup. I really do. But I love cookies, and it appears that you guys do too – we’re just so alike. I’m pretty chuffed that this one came up top actually, it was definitely my favourite post to research and it’s still a bake that I whip up all the damn time. More recipe-esque posts to come in the New Year – your jean zips have been warned.

So there you have it. A walk down memory lane if you’re a regular around these parts (+10 reader points to you) or a whistle-stop tour of the best of VDM in 2013 if you’re new. Here’s to another post-packed year.
