The Weekend Face

When it comes to weekend makeup, I’m a big believer in the whole ‘less is more’ thang. The odd beauty product that I haven’t had the balls to test during the week incase it all goes Pete Tong slips in, but on the whole I keep things simple. Like real simple. Mascara, eyeshadow, brow pencils, lipsticks – ain’t nobody got time for that (at the weekend). So here’s the makeup menu that I’ve been reaching for on my past two days of rest that somehow manage to polish me off into a slightly less tired and lacklustre version of myself (I’m currently suffering from Friends box set induced fatigue).

Things begin with the Soap & Glory Glow Job Sunkissed Morning Moisture Flash – think the This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle with a touch more tan and hydration. I throw it on with fingers or a brush when I fancy working it up a bit. Things are definitely far from perfect in the complexion arena though so then I whack out my NARS Creamy Concealer in Vanilla which works as little airbrusher; blending away blemishes, redness, bags etc etc. They need to bottle this up into a liquid foundation format pronto. It’s good stuff that tends to make an appearance in my rotation most days for the fact that it’s easy to apply, blend and it covers everything. Even my Rudolph-like red nose and that’s something.

Whenever a picture is taken of me sans mascara I always regret the decision not to sport it, but I do like to give my lashes some down time at the weekend and just give them a quick curl (Japonesque’s Power Lash Curlers FTW). Mostly due to the fact that then I don’t have to remove it in the evening. Score. Same goes for my brows – I give them a break. Even though one is visibly more sparse than the other, I roll with it and comb a little of The Body Shop’s Brow & Lash Gel through them. My one pop of colour comes courtesy of AERIN’s Multicolour Duo for Lip and Cheek. The highlighter shade gets a quick dip and slick over my cheeks if it’s lucky, but I’m more fond of the dusky pink cream which I use to add a bit of somthin’ somethin’ to my cheeks and lips – no brush required.

…then of course, some Sunday’s I just go completely barefaced if I’m in the mood for terrifying the general public and others I just hibernate and gorge on Friends. Those are my favourite kind of Sundays.
