The One Where I Have Some ‘Me’ Time

IMG_0852

I feel like every couple of months I come back with the same spiel of ‘needing some ‘me’ time‘, ‘I haven’t had a Sunday to myself for ages‘, ‘we’ve been sooooo busy‘ etc etc. You know the drill. Now I ain’t complaining because I love catching up with friends and family at the weekend, moaning about X Factor whilst secretly enjoying it and eating too many After Eights. It’s my favourite time of the week and not just for the mint chocolate selection boxes that my Mum always brings round – promise! Though sometimes it’s nice to switch off from technology and just read and book and have a little pamper. It’s been a while, so tonight I’m planning on executing the following list…

WHAT I’M WEARING. I had to be physically removed from the M&S pyjama section the other day because everything is so darn fluffy, but I was with my Mum who assured me that Santa might bring some bits this year. Instead I went to The White Company recently with some gift vouchers from my birthday in hand and ended up going home with this set which is just unbelievably cosy. I feel so happy when I have these on. PJ’s are where are the heart is – isn’t that how it goes?

WHAT I’M READING. Right now I’m switching it up between two books depending on what mood I’m in. I’ve finally given into the hype with Marie Kondo’s Life Changing Magic of Tidying and though this book seems completely up my street I’ve only been able to read it in quick bursts because the urge to bin practically everything in the flat becomes too much. I feel like I should save it for a Friday night when I know I’ve got the whole weekend to do a big clear-out if the urge arises. The other is Mindy Kaling’s Why Not Me? which is absolutely hilarious. I love myself some Mindy.

WHAT I’M BURNING. I’m still hugely into The White Company’s Fresh Fig Candle. I’m trying to develop a familiar scent in the new flat and I’m determined that this will be it. There’s something quite calming, but also cosy about it and I know it’s in the name but it does smell really fresh. Oh and fruity too. Ah go on – just go have a sniff of it next time you’re passing.

WHAT I’M USING. I still refuse to get into our bath and do anything aside from shower in it, so there’s no soaking myself until I turn into a prune happening today. Instead it will be a quick shower and shave for me. Yes I’m going to shave my legs. EXCITING TIMES. I think I’ll keep my skincare routine as normal but include the Peter Thomas Roth Blue Marine Algae Intense Hydrating Mask that I’ve finally got round to using. It’s not tingly feeling like I expected from the reviews I’d read but it just leaves my skin feeling fresh and hydrated which is always nice. Then I’ll throw some body moisturiser on and probably finish off my face with the Pixi Nourishing Sleep Mask which is like a really thick, intensive moisturiser. I’ll be looking glowy come Monday. Oh yeah!
