The Glow-Giving Skincare Edit

Drink water, slather this on, look like J.Lo…

For today’s video I thought I’d talk through my everyday makeup basics, which I know is definitely not the most ground-breaking of topics because I’m at a point where I’m wearing less makeup than ever before. Now really that’s because for me the focus is skincare. I want to look like J.Lo goddammit. Is that too much to ask. With a recent lack of water-drinking (*slaps wrist*), cold weather and a heated home – my skin has been bearing the brunt of it, so here’s what I’m using to inject a bit of glow back into matters…

CLEANSE IT OFF. I don’t need to mention for the millionth time that I’m a fan of the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel, but I have recently added a new cleanser to the ranks and it’s done a bloomin’ amazing job of sloughing away makeup and keeping my skin clear, yet hydrated. Say hello to the Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse. One side houses a balm-textured formula that even waves goodbye to waterproof mascara and the other is more of a cream cleanser that’s perfect for a second cleanse at night, or a gentle cleanse in the morning. Both sides have been equally loved.

SPRITZ/WIPE. I’m currently using the May Lindstrom Jasmine Garden Facial Spray as my hydrator and the Pixi Glow Tonic as my exfoliator, but I thought I’d mention a few I’ve used and loved in the past too. To beef up moisture I’ve repurchased the MV Organics Rose Mist a load of times and also enjoy the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist too. For my acid toner I’m a fan of the Zelens PHA+ Bio-Peel Resurfacing Facial Pads – I have quite sensitive skin and found these to be super gentle – and the ol’ classic, Biologique Recherche P50.

SERUM-UP. Here’s where things pretty start to get glowy. I had been using the KYPRIS Antioxidant Dew everyday for the past year and half, but on a recent trip where I forgot to take it with me, my skin miraculously cleared up. So we’re currently on a break to see what’s going on and in the meantime I’m slathering on the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair in the AM and PM despite what the name suggests. Serum-wise I also love the KYPRIS Moonlight Catalyst for when I’m having some textural issues and the Sarah Chapman Skinesis Intense Hydrating Booster when things are looking particularly lacklustre.

THROW ON THAT MOISTURE. Here’s where I really like to ramp up the hydration. An old favourite that I haven’t used for yonks is the Origins Oil-Free Night-a-Mins, which is great if you fancy something that isn’t too budget-busting and is light on the skin. Right now though I’m using the Allies of Skin Overnight Mask for days when I just need something protective, the KYPRIS 1000 Roses Oil for when my skin feels like sandpaper and the May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon when my complexion is freaking the hell out and I have no idea what to do. A newbie to the game is the Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream which is thick and emollient and really holds the moisture in – I’m enjoying it. Expect to see that pop up in my next monthly favourites. Oh wait – it’s the 25th already. How did that happen?
