Anything to get a little Run-D.M.C reference in, eh? But hey, it works as a nice segue to today’s topic which is this nifty little app called Earthmiles. I’m a big fan of collecting air miles. I’m sure I probably only have about 10 points to my name, but I’m convinced that perhaps by the time I’m 60 I might be able to hop on a flight to East Midlands Airport for nothing. BARGAIN. Instead of rewarding you for each time you fly, with Earthmiles you are rewarded every time you walk, run or cycle.
Once you download the app (it’s available on Apple and Android – whoop!), you set it up so that it automatically gathers your movement data from your phone or an app you already use. I set mine up with HealthKit – easy peasy. From then on the more you move, the more rewards you get. So far I’ve got 152 Earthmiles, which gets me 15% off at Pip & Nut or 25% off Organic Surge, a free Yoga class at a local studio or 10% off at Planet Organic. Genius. Invite your friends to join too, to motivate each other and rack up even more Earthmiles.
I must say that it’s made me think about upping my daily steps. Maybe it’s worth popping to the shops en foot to oomph up those Earthmiles to claim that free Yoga class? A trip into town to have a peruse around Whistles counts right? Fancy giving it a go too? Download it here.
