The Christmas Day Face Array

Despite the fact I’m 23, Christmas Day still fills me with the same giddy excitement as a 3 year old. I was good this year and didn’t wake up till gone 8am and a present didn’t pass my fingertips till after lunch. Pats self on back. The day follows the same tradition  it always has and while the rest of the family went out for a quick run (nutters), I tarted myself up and snapped away to document my Christmas Day face. Something simple as not to distract from my new pyjamas which I lounged in for most of the day but with a bang and a half of a bold lip.

For foundation I reached for my lesser used By Terry Sheer Expert Perfecting Fluid Foundation in 5. I do find this a wee bit dark for my unsunkissed skintone, but the formula is spot on and does exactly what it says on the tube. A quick slick of Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Sand under the eyes, a dust of Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium and Burberry Light Glow in Tangerine Blush No.06 over the cheeks and that was the face base completed. Brows were shaded, sculpted and filled courtesy of Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Medium Brown*, a new kid on the block that is trumping everything else I own. Eyes were kept simple with a quick curl and lashings of L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara. And then for the star of the show, Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Orgueil*, the latest liquid lipstick offering to join the crew. The chic casing got me – a smooth click and swift turn pop out the applicator and up folds a mirror. But it’s what’s inside that counts and the deep brown-tinged plum seemed like the right amount of festive flavour. The applicator may not be the  easiest to use and it may have faded after my consumption of ten pigs in blankets but it wasn’t anything a quick layer of the stuff couldn’t fix.

Simple yet effective, and I promise you this makeup looked even better with a wonky green paper hat perched on my head and a comedy plastic ‘out of a cracker’ moustache balancing on my top lip. Promise.
