Seasonal Scents

I’m a complete sucker when it comes to scents and wholeheartedly fall into the cliché box of leaning to sweet, fruity and light fragrances in the warmer months and turning to more sultry, smokey and spicy musks in the winter. So with my (boyfriends) scarf now dangling from my neck on a daily basis and my onesie about to make it’s first appearance of the season, here is the autumn edit that is currently occupying my perfume shelf…

First up onto the raving stage is Escentric Molecules, Molecule 01. Ever since I spoke about this in a haul video a month or so ago people have been asking for an update, and here it is – I love it. A lot more than I first thought actually – look how much of the stuff I’ve used in only six bloody weeks! Containing only one fragrance molecule it dries down to a deep worn-on musk, your skin but a little bit sexier. It’s subtle, but then you’ll get a nasal hit of it a day later on a coat you spritzed it on. A contradiction in itself really – I also like to layer it up with my sweeter scents to vamp them up a bit for autumn wear. The spiciest out of the bunch has to be the most recent addition to the line-up, Liz Earle’s Botanical Essence No.15*. When this landed on my desk, on first impressions it could have quite easily ended up getting tossed to the bottom of the pile – not the most attractive bottle, nor from the description a scent I would usually go for. But it’s blend of 15 precious botanicals including – bergamot, clove bud oil, cinnamon leaf oil and pink pepper berry are adding a touch of the orient into my morning routine and I rather like it. My final pick is Gucci Guilty. A nice compromise between heady floral and fruity. I’ve had this in my collection for years and find the mix of mandarin, peach, amber and patchouli perfect for daytime or evening alike. Not the most exciting of the trio – but one that regularly gets spritzed on when I’m racing out the door, piece of toast in hand.

I’m sure it won’t be long until it’s time to start throwing on those xmas woolies and then the real musky ones start to come out, don’t worry you’ll be first to know when my winter fragrance edit lands…
