There’s nothing I love more than a neutral coloured cosmetics collection, except for a neutral coloured cosmetics collection that caters for a wide-range of skintones. Oh and is from the drugstore – score! So say hello to the Rimmel Nude Collection by Kate, a launch that has got me very excited indeed. Being a fan of all of Rimmel’s collaborations with Kate Moss so far – hello Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 107! – I almost bit off my postman’s hand when these arrived (don’t worry, we’re best mates now). The premise is simple; five lipsticks and five nail polishes designed to suit everyone, from cool tones to warm tones and everything in between, so we can all find a good nude tip and lip match from the drugstore. Nice. Here are my results from having a little play…

Let’s talk the Salon Pro with Lycra Nail Polishes first before we get onto the really good stuff. Of the five colours in the collection, one – Soul Session – is already part of the permanent line-up. It’s actually one of my favourites already. A cool grey with a hint of lavender too. Then there’s the apricot beige Bare Yourself, the peachy nude Gentle Kiss, the creamy taupe Mystify Me and the warm brown Sensual Spice. The formula of this is spot on; opaque, easy to apply thanks to the curved brush tip and long-wearing (I give them a good test by doing the washing-up gloveless and these fared well). I give them a freshly manicured taupe thumbs up.

The Lasting Finish Nude Collection Lipsticks by Kate make me go a little more heart-eyed. Again there are five shades; the yellowy beige Pale Nude, the warm peach Apricot Nude, the orange undertoned Tan Nude, a pinky Rose Nude and a rich burgundy Dark Nude. The formula is opaque, but easily buildable and with a bit of sheen to it – though I like to pat it down to a more matte finish. The juicy-finish means they’re not the most long lasting of all the lipsticks I’ve tried, but they’re nude and a doozy to re-apply so it’s cool. There’s also a bit of a sweet scent going on but again it’s nothing that offends me too much. Personally I love a bit of Apricot Nude mixed with Rose Nude, which is what I’m wearing in the picture above. A bit of peach, mixed with a bit of pink and a whole lot of nude? LOVE. Kate and Rimmel you’ve done it again.
