I’m a foundation floozy. I know it, there’s no beating around the bush. I went from being a full-coverage junkie, to bleating on about tinted moisturisers and now we’re back into the dull dark months of winter (and my skin’s decided to channel the spotty and interesting look) it’s time to whack some coverage out again. Origins is a brand I adore for their skincare, but for some unknown reason would have never would have looked twice at their makeup, however when I had to chance to test out the Plantscription base range, the  Anti-Aging Foundation* and Anti-Aging Concealer*, I thought why the hell not – plus good ol’ Lily Pebbles is a fan and we tend to have rather similar tastes. Here’s its report card…
Being marketed for mature skintypes means that both products offer a pretty darn dewy finish to the skin. Glowy, I’d say. The foundation blends well, offers medium coverage and leaves a pretty sheen on the high points of the face. I love a good squeezey tube too – you can control how much product you need – and you don’t need a lot – plus you don’t end up wasting so much product. The concealer follows the lead of the foundation – creamy and blendable, again it gives medium coverage and looks brightening under the eyes without creasing or feeling heavy at all. It has a touch of Collection 2000’s Lasting Perfection Concealer about it, but it’s not as drying. So far so good. But there are two lil’ downfalls of this foundation. Number one being the colour range, I have the shade Light-Neutral in both products which is a good match for me at the moment, but it’s the second lightest shade they do and I would say the lightest would still look a little warm on someone with an English rose skintone. Also the longevity – I like a nice long-lasting foundation and although this hangs around for a good eight hours or so, it would require some touching up if you were dashing out for the evening after a long day. While writing this post, I’ve been racking my brains for something comparable in my stash and I think the YSL Teint Touche Éclat would be the closest, but I’d say the Origins ramps it up a little in the dewiness stakes.
The price point is pretty high and puts itself in the same league as the big daddy brands, with the foundation costing £28 and the concealer £16 available from Origins online and all counters. Like I said one for normal to dry skinned gals to look into but for severely oily skintypes to avoid. My final score? Points deducted only for it’s longevity and colour range, a solid, A-.
