I’m pretty organised when it comes to the packing of my handbag. In go my purse, keys, phone, phone charger, umbrella (depending on the weather forecast) and nine times out of ten an extra layer (I get cold very easily, ok?). Then there’s my pouch. The holder of all things beauty which contains everything should I need to start from scratch – which never happens, but my inner Virgo needs to feel prepared – held in as few products as possible and in the easiest to apply way. It’s taken years to refine this selection and get it down to formulas that act as both touch-ups and start-ups and into a pouch that doesn’t make it feel like I’m carrying around a brick. So for things to get added, things need to come out and I quite liked the contents as they were so you know these have got to be good. Recently there have been three new additions. All worthy of their place and none add too much weight to my daily elbow workout…
First up we have the do-it-all brush, a.k.a) the Real Techniques Retractable Bronzer Brush. Ignore the bronzer bit as this push up brush can do it all from the final blend after a foundation application with fingers, blush, powder, highlight, contour etc etc. Basically anything to do with the face you can manipulate this one into helping you out. It’s small, perfectly formed and replaces all other brushes in the pouch as the new Queen B.
Hands up who lugs around a hand cream and an anti-bac gel? Well I would’ve raised my hand there previously but there’s a new formula in town that does it both – and well – Lanolips’ Antibacterial Hand Cream. I’m not sure that I would have expected the two aims to mesh well together but my hands feel and smell fresh after slapping it on, are nicely nourished with no tight dry feeling in sight and are anti-bacced up. All in one blob. Nice.
Now this is the one that I’m most excited by because there really isn’t a better illustration of Sod’s Law than a gigantic, throbbing, ‘hurts to touch it’ spot developing while you’re out and about. You can feel it raging and there’s nought you can do about it. Well, you can guess where I’m going with this one. Sarah Chapman Spot Stickers. Deposited from a leather pouch with a mirror inside – genius – these little clear patches dosed with pimple-fighting ingredients can be laid over a spot and left without you needing to get your hands involved. Sure the clear disc catches the light every now and again, but it’s surprisingly discreet. Does it work? I’m not 100% sure and never am with spot-related purchases as I do believe they have a mind of their own; though this does stop you from picking or touching it and that’s always a good thing.
