Natural Nails

This week something very strange happened. I have not worn nail varnish for the whole week. Yep, gasp. At first I didn’t quite know what was going on and wished for somebody to slap me round the face and shock me back into my polish painting ways. However, 5 days down the line and I’m starting to actually quite like it – I no longer hide my hands in my pockets when out in public and my nails are definitely thanking me for this little breather.

Ok so my nails naturally aren’t awful (although my ring finger was looking particularly ragged after this whole ring finger accent business) but they did need a bit of tweaking to perfect this ‘Au Natural’ look. Firstly I cut and filled all my nails down into the square shape that I like to sport. Then I popped on some Sally Hansen Cuticle Remover gel, left it on for a few minutes and then pushed back my cuticles with a cuticle stick – this is something that I have to do every time I give myself a mini, I must have ridiculously fast growing cuticles or something. I’ve nearly finished the tube and it’s a definite repurchase – I highly recommend. Now don’t go thinking that I could go completely without nail varnish, I did cheat slightly and pop a clear polish on. I went for Seche Vite as it was the only one I had, but I would not suggest you do the same as it peels off in less than a day so your clear nail polish suggestions are welcomed 🙂 A dab of any nail oil or cuticle cream you have laying around over the beds of your nails to give a little extra shine and perfecto! This was 4 days ago and after promising myself every night this week that I will get round to putting a colour on I haven’t! CBA! Although I’m feeling like either Essie Lady Like or Topless  and Barefoot will be applied this weekend – god I’m so predictable 😉
