My Fragrance Wardrobe

IMG_2659

I’m not sure that there’s a category in the beauty world that I’m as fussy with as perfumes. Too floral, too musky, too much like toilet cleaner, too similar to *insert family members/friends name here* signature scent, too heady. I know what I like and I what I don’t and after giving perfumes a test it’s not unheard of for me to go and scrub it off my wrists as it made me feel a wee bit faint. Yup, I’m a perfume pussy. The lighter, the fresher, the better. I was holding on to a load of perfumes, more for aesthetically pleasing purposes than anything else and in one of my ‘this clutter is making my brain hurt’ episodes I decided that they deserved a much better home than I could offer, so off they went, stick, blanket and belongings over shoulder and without too much heartache I somehow managed to get it down to five. FIVE. I know *pats self on back*. Here’s how my current fragrance wardrobe is shaping up…

Escentric Molecule, Molecule 01 – created from just one single molecule, hence the name, this is supposed to meld with your natural pheromones to curate your bespoke scent. Interesting. Now I’m still not a 100% sold on that claim, but on me it comes off a bit leather-like and adds some oomph when I wear something light like Stella. It’s a bit of a cult favourite in the beauty ring and if I’m wearing it around cosmetics crazed mates they’ll always guess what I’ve got on. It’s like being part of a members-only club – shhhh, it’s our secret.

Diptyque Volutes – prepare yourself for some serious Diptyque loving here. Whereas my others from them are more on the androgynous, green side of scents, Volutes packs some serious punch. It completely goes against my philosophy and is heady, musky and deep, described as a woody oriental – in theory it has headache written all over it – but somehow I can handle it and it’s easily my most complimented whiff of them all.

Diptyque Vetyverio – ah man, I love this one. I said in a previous video that this is like the slightly more grown up version of CK One. It’s unisex and has that whole fresh, just showered vibe going on. It’s got a bit of everything with fruity, floral, woody and spicy notes which sounds like nasal overload, but it somehow works. It might not be the most well-known Diptyque, but it’s worth a sniff.

Diptyque Philosykos – summer in a bottle. Kinda exotic and creamy (I get a whiff of coconut sometimes), but with a real sharp zing of green notes and fig, it’s just the well-rounded smell of a good holiday. Sweet and sour, it’s never overpowering and is a nice leeway into less in yer face sugary smells.

Diptyque Tam Dao – did you know that if you were to go up and have a sniff of Michael Bublé, then this is what he would smell like? Apparently so. It’s one of those unisex fragrances and a good layer-er; slightly warm and woody it works well to evening-up more of my sweeter scents. It also goes on walkies from time to time and miraculously finds itself in Mark’s toiletry bag, so this one had to stay.

Now I’m cheating a little here as Stella was in the line-up too, but after using her up to her last spritz, the spot is empty until I tick it off my shopping list. But still – six. Common’ that ain’t bad?
