My Current Haircare Routine: Short-ish, Wavy & Easy Peasy

IMG_0911IMG_0853

I feel like I’m destined to forever be low maintenance with my hair. Whenever I try to twist it into a French plait it becomes one gigantic knot, backcombing equals a Russell Brand-esque appearance, oh CRIMPING! Yes crimping, I can do that. I used to crimp my sister’s hair for special occasions back in the early 2000’s, so perhaps I should just wait for zig zag locks to become trendy again?

In the meantime I’ve devised a very low key approach when it comes to my haircare routine. It’s not the most interesting, but I’ve spotted a few requests from you lot and there are some new products I’m using too, so why not break the week in with something hairy…

In terms of shampoo and conditioner (yes I’m back to using conditioner again now my hair isn’t three inches long anymore), I’ve got a few on the go. My preferred duo is the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo & Conditioner, which has finally made its way to UK shores, though under the guise of ‘Healthy Hair’ (I have no idea why it’s been renamed and neither did the babes in Space NK when I asked them – anyone know what’s going on?). It’s a great combination that leaves my hair feeling clean and soft, but not too soft – you know? It’s a pricey option though and with all my visits to the gym I needed something a little more budget friendly to alternate with – seriously my hair has never been so clean. My current high-street lock cleaner is the Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo & Conditioner. It gets the job done and leaves my hair smelling awesome. Go on – have a whiff. You know me and of course the Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo gets dragged out from time to time too. Though these days I just tend to use it whenever I feel a bit clogged up in the scalp department.

In terms of styling, more often than not I just crack out my BaByliss Boutique Hairdryer, get drying and then promptly secure what I can of it into a top knot. That’s it. But if I’m feeling fancy or my hair is feeling particularly coarse then I run through a bit of the Living Proof Healthy Hair Styling Treatment (can you tell I love a bit of Living Proof?). It’s a great multi-tasker that adds hydration without heaviness and is a product that doesn’t interfere with my oft-greasy hair situation. If ever you see it curled, it’s because I’ve gone to town with my GHD’s (see a video on how I do that here). To keep it all in place I like to go crazy with the Oscar Blandi Volume & Texture Spray, which I’m currently using because I’m out of my Oribe Dry Texturising Spray and I’m working up the courage to purchase a new one… Come on girl – you can do it.

OK. So that’s 10 products. Maybe I’m not so low maintenance as I thought…
