My Cold Weather Edit: Layers to Lip Balm

IMG_1050

I don’t deal the best with the cold, if you can’t already tell by my year-round wearing of my fluffy, thick purple dressing gown. I’ve always got cold hands and feet and I relish in being covered in about five blankets and throws as I sleep because being warm and toasty makes me so darn happy. I’ll take sweating over shivering anyway of the week. So when the winter sets in in the UK, I require my own little SOS kit of style, beauty and wellness bits to see me through to the spring (Who am I kidding? Spring is bloomin’ freezing over here too) and today I thought I’d share…

STYLE: It’s all about layering and if there’s one thing that’s the perfect layering piece to keep you cool when you’re running for the train, but keep you warm when you’re freezing your nips off on the platform, it’s the Uniqlo HEATTECH range. I have tops, bottoms, vests – the lot – and it’s great not only to wear underneath your everyday outfits, but also to pack on cooler holidays to take with you. I wore these a tonne in New York. The other thing that I’ve gotten so much wear out of over the past few months is my ZARA Parker Jacket. Not only does it pair with everything, but the fleecy lining has kept me nice and toasty. Parka lover for LIFE over here.

BEAUTY: So skincare becomes my major priority at this time of year because high winds and whacking the radiators up to full power means that my complexion can start to look a little red and overcooked quickly. The combination of Kypris’ Antioxidant Dew and the MV Skincare Rose Plus Booster seem to keep things looking as dewy as they can be and I keep the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist and Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist on hand to act as moisture top-ups throughout the day. The Peter Thomas Roth Blue Marine Algae Mask is a lovely hydrating/exfoliating formula that brightens and cleanses and I also like to use the PurePotions Skin Salvation Moisturising Ointment on any severely dry patches or areas of Psoriasis. Of course you’ve got to throw a lip balm into a winter beauty edit and I find that the best one to tackle dry and sore lips is the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask. No lip is too dry for this one to sort out.

WELLNESS: I can’t get enough of the 1001 Remedies PurAir Purifying Spray which is a great little spritz that’s antiviral, antibacterial and just smells darn incredible and so far has stopped the sniffles making an arrival this season. However I’m currently supplement-less and I’m all ears for your recommendations. Anything you’d suggest for a gal with sensitive bowels and a leaky nose year-round? What a description, eh?
