My 2016 Beauty Favourites

SPOILER: You can probably guess them all already

Picking out my favourite makeup products from the past 12 months was easy peasy. I practically emptied out my everyday box of beauty bits and deemed them all worthy enough to make the cut. They’ll be no surprises, but I’ve tried to spice things up a little by throwing them on my face as we go so you can see them all in action. Seeing as it’s just makeup that I show in the video, I thought today I’d talk you though my other beauty favourites from 2016…

I feel like you are all well and truly versed in my old skincare favourites, so I’ll skip over the obvious ones and stick instead to new things that I discovered in 2016. I’d say that KYRPIS was my most exciting find. I’ve been using their Antioxidant Dew, Beauty Elixir: 1000 Roses and Moonlight Catalyst practically everyday since the beginning of the year and have repurchased the Antioxidant Dew twice now I think; it’s what I use AM and PM for my serum-step. May Lindstrom has also been a great discovery (can you tell I’m a Caroline Hirons fangirl?). Blue Cocoon is easily the priciest piece of skincare that I have ever purchased, but it is pure heaven in a tub. It smells like white chocolate and has got me out of many complexion mishaps; from under-the-skin painful spots to soothing sunburn overnight.

It’s not the sexiest of categories, but there are a few body care bits that I’ve reached for time and time again this year, so I thought they were worth a mention. I’ve got a dry old snakeskin body, so basically everything that I use is geared towards adding moisture. I go for the Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil whenever I’m feeling a bit puffy and dry, the Kiehl’s Creme de Corps for something that’s quick and easy to slap on and then Eucerin’s Intensive 10% w/w Urea Treatment Cream on my über dry patches of psoriasis to calm them down.

For hair it’s been a pretty non-adventurous year as I’ve stuck to old favourites. I’m currently on my 1.657th bottle of Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo, although I did discover a new conditioner favourite – the Kiehl’s Amino Acid Conditioner. The only styling product that I ever use is the Oribe Dry Textursing Spray and I get sad whenever I’m out of it, although their Matte Waves Texture Lotion did get a good amount of use in the summer. Electronics-wise I’m still all about the GHD Hair Straighteners (I upgraded this year and it made me realise that my pair that were 10 years old were well overdue an upgrade) and the BaByliss Boutique Hairdryer that knocks the socks off the competition.

So that’s it for skincare, body care and haircare – onto the makeup…
