Make Up Forever Aqua Smoky Lash

I have a bit of an apology to make to my (now) beloved Make Up Forever Aqua Smoky Lash mascara. As I’ve said before when I first purchased this mascara, it didn’t live up to the Youtube induced hype – it was thick, gloopy and made my lashes look like 4 spikes erupting from my eye line. But over time the formula dried up slightly, and I began to incorporate it as a ‘finisher’ to give a bit of extra volume after using my favourite mascara ever, L’oreal Telesopic Waterproof. The L’oreal added length and curl, whereas the Make Up Forever gave some extra oomph. You may notice that I’m  rather attracted to waterproof formulations, this is because I find that they hold a curl much better in my eyelashes, plus they hang around on your lashes for hours (days even). Two days ago, I used my last swipe of the L’oreal and in a panic turned to my ‘second-best’ Make Up Forever Aqua Smokey Lash, and this is what happened.

Please feel free to ignore the bush-ay eyebrows (don’t worry my trusty Tweezerman’s sorted out that mess this morning). But take a look at those lashes! My lashes on their own are nothing special, they are quite thick and have an ok length but are so uncurled they usually point towards the floor. But I am seriously impressed with the lift, separation and volume given by this mascara. whilst still looking fluttery and natural Now granted I did use my Shu Uemura eyelashes to get that curl, but it seems like those and this Make Up Forever mascara are a good match!

The only downside to this mascara is availability. In the UK it has a pretty much online-only presence and is stocked on Guru Makeup Emporium, and in their one London based shop. At £17.50 it’s not exactly purse-friendly, but the other L’oreal Telesopic one that I use now costs around £11-£12 it’s not exactly too out of my price range. I’m not sure it’s something that I will go to all that trouble to purchase, but hey if I’m ever in Paris again (which is where I picked this up originally), perhaps I would consider it.
