MAC Viva Glam Nicki

Move along, move along, nothing new to see here! I’m sure that over the next few days the Beauty Blogging world will be bombarded with posts about MAC’s latest lipstick offering, as people tend to get a little bit loopy ovet them. I would say I’m now only a part time member of that gang; I used to have ambitions to own the whole MAC Lipstick line but have now downsized that dream and own a few that I reach for on a daily basis. This means that my MAC lipstick collection mainly consists of nudes and peaches, so my latest purchase doesn’t really fit into that mould but I just couldn’t help myself.

Over the next week or so MAC are due to release their latest Viva Glam offering. Viva Glam is a yearly campaign run by MAC where a celebrity creates their own product and then all the proceeds go to the MAC Aids Foundation. Having brought the previous Viva Glam offerings it’s become somewhat of a tradition to purchase, so when a pre-release code landed in my inbox I couldn’t help myself. This year MAC have team up with Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin who have created a lipstick and a lip balm. Ricky’s lipbalm didn’t get me too excited but after seeing some swatches of the Viva Glam Nicki lipstick I was excited to get my hands on it.

Now Viva Glam Nicki isn’t exactly my everyday colour of choice. It’s a yellow based, bright pinky coral in a Satin formula, which means that it’s nice and opaque but not too drying. In terms of dupes, the closest I’ve found is the OCC Lip Tar in Divine, which I blogged about here, it’s almost the exact same shade, perhaps Divine is a little more pink and Viva Glam Nicki more red. The wear of this is pretty good, a good 3 hours or so before it needs touching up. Would I recommend it? Well it’s not going to be something that I reach for a lot but all the proceeds go to charity so why not 🙂
