Luggable Hassle-Free Snacking

IMG_2452

In my attempt to fill my belly with slightly better choices than my previous menu of cookies, pancakes and pizzas (man – does that sound goooood), I’ve stumbled across some pre-made, but-not-too-nasty-filled snacks that fill a hole in times of need. In an ideal world I’d whip them up myself in my humongous kitchen with its own little island and a two-door fridge, but in reality it’s a titchy little place with a mini fridge and sometimes I’m just a little short on time. It’s an area of my cupboards that I dip in every other day or so, lob one of the offerings in my bag and gobble down on the tube. Perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth without consuming a shedload of refined sugar and other no no’s. Here are some things that I have learnt from healthier snacking:

1. You must like dates.

2. You must like nuts.

3. If you don’t like dates and/or nuts then you’re pretty much screwed.

Just an observation, but if you disagree with points one and two, then you may not wish to take on the following recommendations…

BEST FORWhen you want chocolate – Nakd Bars. My go-to for when I’m in the mood for a sweet treat. There are variations on the cocoa flavour, but the orange one is my favourite. FYI the ingredients list on the back mean that these would be an easy peasy one to imitate.

BEST FORAfter a workout – Bounce Natural Energy Balls. Apparently these are full of some kind of protein stuff – whey protein? I recognise the name from a huge tub of stuff the boyf stores in our cupboards and never uses –  which makes them a good post-sweaty stuff snack. If you like peanut butter, then you’ll love the peanut version and man are these filling.

BEST FORFilling up – Clif Bars. Oh my word – these are goooood. The White Chocolate and Macadamia Nut ones are just the mutts nuts and the peanut flavour is a safe bet too. Chewy, sweet, filling goodness. These are more of an oat-y base over the others so if you’re not a dried fruit lover then this one is your guy.

I reckon that covers most bases. Any others to add into the snack box?
