Lacquering Up with Deborah Lippmann

Deborah Lippmann, a previously difficult to source brand in the UK, has just relaunched into the aisles of Selfridges, Look Fantastic and Beauty Bay. Prior to this I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve gone off piste online in search for a bottle, gave up and promised myself I’ll pick up my mission when I spot it in the flesh. So it reaches stores and what do I go and do? Order it online. Oh Anna. Me and my DPD delivery man are bezzie buds. To be fair the online beauty community have got Deborah Lippmann swatches down, so I came, I saw, I purchased and here are my thoughts.

Deborah Lippmann Creme Nail Polish in Modern Love – Oh a rose-tinted, mauve-y nude – way to be original, eh? Of all the kick-ass glitters D.L concocts and I go for the safe choice. But, hear me out on this one because it really is a good ‘no-fuss, throw on a coat or two and be done’ colour. It painted on well, I have no complaints about the brush and it was ready for coat two before you could say ‘I wish I’d purchased Happy Birthday‘.

Deborah Lippmann Rock & Roll Base and Top Coat Mini Duet – Now I promise I didn’t purchase this set due to the glitter pouch it comes in (which does by the way, shed like a beyatch), I’m just always up for new formulas to sandwich my polish between. The Fast Girls Base Coat, does the job as good as any other option I’ve tried, but it’s the Addicted to Speed Top Coat that impresses the most. This stuff dries fast, without the fume-y haze of Seche Vite and with a touch more shine than the Mavala. A big bottle purchase is on the cards.

Since my first dip into the Deborah Lippmann ocean I’ve also acquired the ridiculously blinging Cleopatra in New York – a golden glitter-laced black which is completely off my usual spectrum of tip-approved shades, but is a bit of a guilty pleasure. It’s fabulous. The overall verdict? If you want to treat your polish posse to something special – Deborah’s your gal.
