Getting Back Into Blusher..

If you are a regular reader of this blog you will know that I have a love-hate relationship with blusher. Sometimes I can’t get enough of it, other times I can go a few weeks without even touching the stuff (dramatic I know). After seeing a few unflattering photos of myself sans blusher pop up on the ol’ Facebook I have released that a touch of blusher to the cheeks actually helps to bring some dimension and a bit of colour to my face – especially in flash photography. These unflattering photos have also taught me never to wear MAC Woodwinked eyeshadow without putting some dark liner on my lashlines (hello pinkeye!) – but that is a story for another time. Back to the point, blushers, yes of course I got for the neutral variety – peachy pinks being my favourites and here are my 3 top picks…
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy, Benefit Coralista Blush, MAC Melba Blush & MAC 187 Brush

From the minute I set my eyes on the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy I knew it would be love! It’s much brighter than my other favourites, and it is so pigmented that you need to the lightest dusting of this stuff. It does claim to last 12 hours and I think I can vouch for the fact that it probably lasts longer, by the end of the day it is still hanging in there. More of a peach than a pink, but I bloody love it. I know that it’s near impossible to get in the UK, but if you can pick this up on ebay (which I have seen it stocked on before) then it’s definitely worth it. My second choice has to be one that always manages to weasel it’s way onto my cheeks – I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact my colleague at work throws this on and it looks fabulous on her and it’s Benefits Coralista. This is a blusher that I really dragged my heels on, I just wasn’t sure enough to purchase it for a long time, but when I did I was nicely surprised. Not only does this smell amazing (strange but true) it leaves a nice warm, coral hue to the cheeks – nothing crazy – just that kind of ‘I may have been to the beach and got a wee bit warm’ look. The final one is an obvious choice – MAC Melba, if there is ever a chance to mention a blusher then this is the one that I will rave about. Probably the most subtle out of the 3 this is more of a dirty peach, but looks fab when I can be bothered to do the whole contour/highlight/blush thing. Plus it’s a rumoured favourite of the Kardashians – sold 😉 I apply all my blushers with the MAC 187 brush, I just find that it gives a nice natural finish and allows you to build up a bit of colour. Anymore blush recommendations for me? As long as they’re in the peach family I’m game 😉
Much Love,
Vivianna x
