Five Highlights From The Month of May

…yeah it’s a good one.

May has been a month of two halves. The first two weeks were completely nuts, whereas the past two have been taken at a slower pace, which was very much welcomed as the dark circles had begun to creep in and I was having ‘Master of None’ withdrawals. It was nice to be here, there and everywhere for a bit, but the novelty of not sleeping in your own bed starts to wear off (after one night for me because I’m a complete homebody!), so it’s been so nice to spend the past two weeks back with my normal routines and being able to crack on with posts and videos again.

Speaking of videos, I’ve popped my monthly favourites below so have a watch of that for all my beauty favourites along with my favourite favourite of all. Here’s my May round-up…

LAUNCHING THE PODCAST. Having been working on it for almost two years, launching ‘At Home With..‘ was one of the most exciting highlights of my blogging life so far. The fact that it was received well and the feedback from you guys when you listen to the new episodes each week give me all the good feels in my belly. Recording five episodes in two weeks and having to travel to and from London (and Glasgow!) each time to do it was tough on the old energy levels (I even devised a way to make my jumper into a neck pillow so I could catch some extra zzzz’s), so it’s been nice to have a break for two weeks, but it won’t be long till Lily and I are back doing the rounds to record the final five episodes. Have a look out for the new episode that drops on Wednesday, because it’s one of the most requested guests so far and it’s a good’un…

HEN DO’S BIRTHDAYS AND BABY SHOWERS. This month has been packed-full with socials from my hen do (yep remember the Lady Boys of Bangkok on my IG Stories? That was my hen do and I don’t remember much else from the night), to Birthdays (it was our mate Matt’s Birthday and we baked him Red Velvet Cake and played glow-in-the-dark crazy golf) and baby showers (I’ve never eaten so many cupcakes in one sitting in my life). It was so much fun and after a nutty start to the month it was nice for things to settle down and to be able to spend time with friends. The highlight though was when my friend popped her baby out only a couple of days after the baby shower and I’ve been spending every moment I can with her and her new bundle of joy since. If I’m not cuddling the new baby, then I’m thinking about cuddling the new baby or I’m looking at pictures of the new baby on my phone. It’s fair to say that I’m in love.

THE BUBBLING POT OF PROJECTS. There is so much on my plate at the moment, but I’m actually loving it. After being in the hamster wheel of creating frequent content for almost seven years now, things can get a bit stagnant so it’s been really fun to dabble my toes into different projects. The podcast has been such a fun medium to explore and Lily and I have spent many a late night working on it, but the feedback has made it all worth while. There’s also some charity bits and bobs and possible events that are bubbling away in the pot, plus a few other things. Juggling it all, along with creating four blog posts a week, two videos and keeping the back-end of the site and emails grinding away has meant that I’m spending more time hunched over my laptop than ever. So if I’m ever quiet on here or other social media and I’m not down a RuPaul’s Drag Race rabbit hole then know that really cool things are coming your way soon.

HAVING A BIT OF ‘ME’ TIME. Contrasted with the beginning two weeks of the month, the past two have been pretty chill. This is mainly down to keeping my diary free because of an event that occurred this weekend (see below! Eeeek!). I’ve got my nails done, I’ve actually taken the time to slap on some tan, I’ve been back in the kitchen doing some cooking, I’ve worked out; I’ve basically just clawed back a bit of time for me and it feels kinda awesome. Lying in bed watching RuPaul’s Drag Race will eternally be my ‘happy place‘.

GETTING MARRIED! WHUUUTT?! By the time you read this post Mark and I will be married and I’m so flipping excited about it. It’s Friday at the time of writing this post and in about 24 hours time I will be walking down the aisle and I feel both sick and horrendously excited at the thought of it. Not nauseous at the thought of being married I must add – Mark is flippin’ awesome and I can’t wait to be his wife – just that the actual day is a lot for someone who doesn’t really even celebrate their birthday. I talk about it more in today’s video (see below), but expect a couple of blog posts and videos about my makeup and how to plan a wedding pretty quickly (5 months!). In fact I’m going to try and rope Mark into a Q&A video about the whole thing, so if you have any questions pop them below. I’ll check back and have a read of them when I’m not so hungover because it’s TIME TO PARTY!!!!
