Everyday Bright Lip

It seems quite ironic that I am writing this post from my sick bed, in a onesie with a cold, because I’m telling you now I do not look like the above picture today! I currently resemble a paler, drier, flakier, snottier version of myself. Luverly. However a few days ago I decided to rock out a new lip purchase of mine and embraced a bright lip! It’s not very often that I do this, so I thought it was definitely blog worthy.

I kept the base of my makeup pretty standard – Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation in 03, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Sand, Sleek Contour Kid in Light, you know the drill by now. I did pop some Clinique Blushing Blush Powder in Aglow over my cheeks (this was my first ever ‘high-end’ blush purchase actually!), which gives a nice sunkissed, and subtly coral sheen. I ran a bit of MAC Espresso eyeshadow through my brows, and then curled my lashes with my Shu Uemura eyelash curlers before giving them a coat of the L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara and use the MAC Chromographic Pencil in NC15/NW20 on my waterline. On a side-note, a few people have asked me if I have tried the new Telescopic False Lash mascara, yes I have and although it gave super volume it did not hold a curl, so it gets a thumbs down from me ladies.

Now for the lips I used a new addition to my collection that I picked up from IMAT’s last weekend, it’s the OCC Lip Tar in Divine. I have to admit I ended up grabbing it on a whim as Milly purchased it and it looked gorgeous! OCC describe it as a ‘true flamingo pink’, and I don’t think they could be more right; it’s a quite a neutral based pink, so I don’t find it too cool for my skintone and I can see me getting loads of wear out of this in the summer months. When it comes to liquid lip colour people are always going to compare these to the Sleek Pout Paints and I have to say the OCC Lip Tars win hands down. They go on much less streaky (I tend to apply with a lip brush), and are also less drying on the lips. They are priced a little higher, at £8.99 and more difficult to find (they are stocked on Love Makeup), but if you can be bothered to root around I highly recommend them!
