Crazy for Concealers

I don’t know what came over me while I was in New York, but it wasn’t until I was packing all my beauty bumf up for the journey home that I realised I’d purchased three concealers. Considering I was only there for two full days – averaging at 1.5 concealer buys a day – that is definitely a personal record. With the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer being a non-negotiable in my routine for as long as I can remember I think it was about time my under-eye arsenal got some fresh meat. So here’s a rundown of the three concealers in question (including that NARS offering):

First up is one I’ve briefly touched on before in my Tarte rundown – their Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. A thick formula dispensed from a squeezey tube, this spreads particularly well and works equally brilliantly at covering bags and blemishes alike. It sort of reminds me of a more dewy finished Make Up For Ever Full Cover Extreme Camouflage Cream Concealer (see below) – perfect for a no makeup, makeup finish. I apply a blob to the back of my hand, take a smidge on a MAC 217 Brush and blend away.

Now finally – after months of searching – managed to get my hands on the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. You’ve heard the raves. I’m here to tell you they are all true. Perhaps not as dewy as the name suggests, but it sure is as creamy. Covering enough for average skin, good nights sleep days; I apply this under my eyes, on the tip and edges of my nose and blend in with my digits. Luverly. Worth the hunt to find your shade in stock? Definitely.

Full coverage? Waterproof? The Make Up For Ever Full Cover Extreme Camouflage Cream Concealer doesn’t sound like my usual kind of get-up, but after hearing rave after rave on this tube of industrial strength goodness my natural intrigue gave in. It’s one of those ‘does what it says on the tin’ jobbies – covering and concealing like a trooper in a formula that does not budge. Yes things can get a little cakey if you go overboard; but the tiniest of blobs blended under-eye or over-blemish with the warmth of your fingertip is the stuff high coverage concealer dreams are made of.

Crazy for concealers? I definitely think so. But all three have proved themselves worthy of a purchase. Now I have all bases covered. Quite literally.
