CHANEL always bring it with their limited edition collections and their Autumn 2014 drop – États Poétiques – is no exception to the rule. They’re offering up a beauty smorgasbord of muted neutrals with a flash of pink throughout that gives the whole thing a freshness and adds a guaranteed sell-out vibe. I’ve seen, swatched and tested the lot and with everything now having made its way to counter I thought I’d round up the best of the bunch and spotlight the launches that it’s completely justified to save the pennies for – hello Boots Advantage Card points…
CHANEL Écriture de Chanel in 10 Noir – A long-lasting eyeliner that takes eye makeup remover and some to remove. The nib floats over the lash line leaving a black black line behind and is sturdy enough to create a flick without too much mess. It’s on the thicker side of things so perhaps one for ladies that aren’t scared of a seriously feline flick.
CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Full Colour Lipstick in Viva and Aura – Fancy the much-loved Rouge Coco Shine formula with an added kick of colour? Then here you go. Still with the shine and non-lipstickness of the originals, these pack a bit more punch with Viva giving a hit of fuchsia pink and Aura does that whole ‘just eaten a bowl of berries’ slightly vampy deep plum lip thing. Pick up Viva now for the summer to autumn transition, but I’m benching Aura till winter when I think it’s going to be the perfect makeup accompaniment to the cooler weather.
CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Polish in Secret and Orage – CHANEL’s limited edition polish drops are always my favourites and these are no different. There are three in total, but these two are my top picks of the pack. Secret is beige nude that successfully steers clear of mannequin hand territory and Orage is a deep navy that looks a bit grey in the bottle but black on the nails. It’s like the blue version of Rouge Noir. My only sticking point with these is the formula; patience is key and you’ve got to schedule in enough time for three coats but if time is on your side then paint away.
CHANEL Les Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Poésie – I’ve saved the best till last here. You know when I mentioned that I’d been wearing the Lorac Pro Palette ‘almost daily’? Well this is what I was donning in between. Four shades, all laced with a mauve-y pink undertone that I struggle to pick a favourite from. I have to pick one? Well, then it’s the top left Ombre Shade, a lilac taupe that I’ve been dusting on with lashings of mascara. A great everyday palette that can be beefed up for nighttime thanks to the rich chocolate brown. It’s limited edition, so grab your shoes, keys and purse and run.
