Bank Holiday Makeup

I’m writing this post on the rather refreshingly empty train journey home after spending the Bank Holiday weekend ‘up North with my Boyfriend and old Uni mates. Hope you all enjoyed the time off, I know I did! Anyway, onto the makeup. I think I’ve become quite a pro when it comes to packing, makeup especially. I’m not 20 products on the face kinda girl anyway, but I’ve learnt to pack my all-time favourites with a few little extras to give myself the illusion of some choice! This weekend included a night out on the town, pub visits and some meals out – a plethora of social occasions and all of which I think my minimal makeup bag catered for!

For my base I bought along my newest foundation love – the YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat* (full review on that here), partly because I have a sample size of it and partly cause it offers a beautiful natural finish and the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 3 came with me too and is what I used instead of foundation most days just blended lightly over areas where I needed a touch of coverage. Of course brush-wise I used the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I also threw in the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in Natural Beige and the Japonesque Powder Brush* which I dusted on for the nights out to make everything a little longer lasting. For cheeks I bought along the classic combo of NARS Laguna, the MAC 150 Brush and Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Peach Whisper and the Real Techniques Multi-Task Brush. Now with the eyes I kept it simple – no eyeshadow, just the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers, L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara and my newest makeup discovery the Burberry Eye Definer in Golden Brown*. I’m not a huge eyeliner girl, but this has really changed my mind, expect to see a post on it soon. Just three products for lips – the NUXE Rêve de Miel lipbalm as a base, then Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Evasion for a touch of colour, and finally Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bare Peach for a little shine. Simples!

I threw all of this in to my new Muji purchase – the TPU Large Pouch which may not be the sexiest makeup bag but is the official size of the clear case which you can take liquids on for flights and all that jazz so it should come in handy for holidays. So there you have what I guess are my current makeup favourites and it’s almost time for me to get off the train. Perfect timing! What makeup were you loving this Jubilee Weekend?
