An Ode To My New Backpack

IMG_1419

I must preface this post by saying that I am in no way shape or form cool enough for the backpack trend. I don’t feel like I suited backpacks back in the ’90’s when the trend was Nike one-strap rucksacks that cut awkwardly across my white polo shirt, nor do I feel like they particularly suit me now, but let me tell you I am so ridiculously in love with my Whistles Portland Backpack that I don’t give two hoots.

All it took was for Whistles to hop on the backpack bandwagon and when my mate Siobhan wouldn’t stop raving from the hilltops about hers I was well and truly sold – the rest is history and I’ve been lugging my new bag around town feeling like a super chic Dora The Explorer ever since. If you want an in-depth review I highly recommend a watch of Siobhan’s video, so I’ll keep things sort and sweet here…

It’s a surprisingly roomy find and I’ve had no trouble at all fitting my laptop, notepad, makeup bag, water bottle and other random bits of unnecessary handbag-fodder I carry around. In fact my 13-inch laptop fits in perfectly. Not only is this backpack great for days when you need to carry everything including your kitchen sink around, I feel like it’s a real winner for travel. My tote bag is off the cards since a pair of noise-cancelling headphones fell out of it somewhere between In-And-Out Burger and LAX, so as something that’s a bit more secure, the Portland will be in the running for sure next time I travel. Functional meets chic – I must tell my Mum about it. And my Physio. They’ll be so proud.
