A Candlelit Bathtime

One New Years resolution that I’ve been unsurprisingly good at sticking with was my intention to indulge in more candle lit baths. There is just something about switching all tech off, electricity too and stewing in a warm, bubbly bath with a candle creating a flickering light to read your chosen choice of text by that is extremely comforting and nine times out of ten makes me almost drift off and dip my magazine into the water. Doh. It’s what I imagine being back in the womb would be like, just with an Allure Magazine in hand. It’s a routine I’ve been indulging in every few days and I’m feeling mildly more chilled for it. As always with these things I’ve gathered a rather lush product arsenal to make my candlelit tub-time that touch more luxe and given that it’s Sunday, a.k.a) the day of rest and pampering, I thought it was about time I shared.

Before I even get the taps running, I strike up and light a candle to set the mood. Oh baby. There’s a few that fit the category of ‘spa-like sniffs’, but at the moment I’m all over Jo Malone’s latest release; Lavender and Lovage. It’s a little bit herby, a little bit sweet and a little bit lavender-y (obvs); I’ve yet to shove this in someones face for them to smell and them dislike it. The perfect bath soak pairing for this comes in the form of the Clarins Relax Bath and Shower Concentrate. Which though pricey, wouldn’t look out of place in the This Works Deep Sleep range. I lob a few drips under running water and 10 minutes later I’m left with a tub that alludes a sleepy, herby haze. You feeling relaxed yet?

Mood set and bath run, when in-tub after all the boring wash/shave bits are done, I get to work with the Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Body Polish, a recent purchase that smells good enough to eat. Who knew that the best body butter in the world came in scrub form? It doesn’t disappoint, with a gritty texture that gets to work sloughing off all the rough bits and leaving a hint of a coconut scent on your limbs. Finish off with a quick flick through Allure and there ladies and gents, is the most perfect candlelit bath time of all.

So who’s in the mood for a bath now?
